Those guys are doing a great job and, as well as being glad to help out, are probably enjoying the break from the usual peacetime drudge.

Military units are almost always going to be a good choice for disaster relief. For the most part, they are able to operate without the need for a permanent base of operations and can fairly quickly relocate to where they can do the most good. Add to this the fact that they get the chance to ease suffering when their job description normally requires them to cause suffering, and you have a win-win situation. A win for the victims and a win for the morale of the military.

Imagine the day when there is worldwide peace and the US military will be able to focus on support and assistance like this all the time. Agreed Harry, for those that aren't scheduled for fighting and located in Japan this must feel good for them to be able to do something worthwhile and feel busy. Keep up the great work Marines :D!
