Very beautiful, sorta pastel tone to it - picture is a keeper!

It does look like some kind of classical Chinese landscape painting. Very Asian. Good job, Mr. MacDonald. I'm lovin' it!

This picture makes me, pardon the pun, plum crazy.

Wish I was there, then go up and down all those stairs five or ten times. Beautiful spring color will make hard work become joyful activity.Nice.

Wow! I want this as a jigsaw puzzle! Do you have it in high res, Mr. M? Anyone know a company that will convert photos to a proper 1000 (or more) piece puzzle?
Fabulous array of colours and textures, but it is the structure that really makes it. Noripinhead, I fully agree: classical chinese landscape painting. Perhaps the paler colored blossoms in front, help to add to that fore and background in equal detail effect. The random looking stairs just stringing in and out of the shot really pin it.

These folks will turn your favorite photo into a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle. It's up to you to negotiate with the photographer though, I'd imagine.

I wonder why there aren't more people climbing those stairs? Blooming nice view.

God! I would give a lot to be there. I miss Japan with my whole heart!!! In Moscow it it windy and snowy, 6 month winter-is very hard to bear!

Nice picture, Hanami is coming. I can almost make out the shapes of the "sarary-men" and "OL"s in a dis-shevelled and comatose state under those blossoms. I will be photographing this stuff in a couple weeks in Northern Honshu.

Beautiful picture! Well done, David MacDonald. Does the photographer sell his work?

Thank you, Sk4ek. JT, is there a way to contact the photographer? (His name is unfortunately common - not easy to find via google.)
