Rainy season over

I can't work out the Tokyoite's preference over summer beaches. It's either some packed strip along the Shonan Coast or this artificial sandpit facing dark murky waters. They ought to give more credit to Chiba and its coastline for what its worth. It's right next door.

Raining season is over and now we have hot and humid days to deal with for another 4 to 6 weeks... um, no thanks. Roll October please! At least then riding the train to/from work won't be so sweaty and GROSS!!!

I went there once, and that was enough. Although the local area has a lot, and the city views are awesome (including the ride there on an automated tram), the beach itself was a real disappointment. It's much smaller than the pictures depict, there's no swimming allowed, the water was dark, and the unpleasant aroma of sewage wafted through the area.

@Sensei: Wow.. that's really odd..what's the point of a beach if you can't take a dip?

Have to agree it's not the greatest place to sunbathe. Getting hot and sweaty requires a dip now and then.

The Japan Meteorological Agency announced Sunday that the rainy season is over in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

For some reason, the announcement of "tsuyuake" is always low-profile. I have actually known about it when I joined this field, though it still doesn't mean very much to me. OK, it seems that we're already in the hottest part of summer.

I remember my young days viewing the young couple lying on the beach in the today's PICTURE OF THE DAY. Very nice!
