Sanja Festival in Asakusa

Sanja Festival in Asakusa

Shirasagi-no-mai dancers perform at the opening parade of the annual Sanja Matsuri in Asakusa. The three main mikoshi (portable shrines) will be absent from the main parade as a result of last year’s unruly behavior. Formal ceremonies, as well as a main parade with town associations’ mikoshi, will take place during this three-day long festival ending on Sunday.
