Actress Tamao Nakamura, 69, center, and Indian enka singer Chadha, 56, far left, throw roasted soy beans and snacks toward people at Tokyo’s Zojoji temple on Tuesday as part of the Setsubun festival which marks the lunar calendar start of spring. The beans are supposed to drive away the evil spirits that bring misfortune and bad health with them.

Yeah, I never heard of this Indian guy either. Give some publicity, write an article, let us know his favorite songs etc.

Does this guy have any old relatives from Okinawa? Is it his grandmother? Did she die? Is this why he's singing enka?

Nice and bright holiday, I was lucky to be in Japan in 2006. The beginning of the spring - nice subject to celebrate. Though in Tokyo is warm now , compare with Moscow. Yesterday was mines 24 degrees. I am the one who is really eager to have spring time.

Flinging beans to exorcise demons in 2009.... Well I guess it's better than burning witches at the stake.

About the enka singer, a quick google search yielded this:

Not much, but there are other clips too if anyone is interested. He has a nice voice, and I like the look of his stage performance.

Mr S Chadha is an oldtime singer of Enka. Way back, he used to be a popular singer but he went back to India for few years. He is now back in Tokyo and started to peform again. Zojoji is kind enough to include him in the 'talento' list. You all will meet him in course of time.
