  In my opinion the best nighttime display of lights is in Shinjuku. Better than Shibuya or Ginza.

  Now, this is the Japan I know and love. Gone are your ultra-clean, mall-like shopping areas. Instead, garbage gathered round trees or other stationary objects... wonderful!

  I think a vertical version without the gomi being cut(the gomi is in the foreground garnering yr attn, shudnt be chopped, unless it streams well out from the tree LOL) wud be better as the right 5th of the pic cud easily be cropped

  No trash bins almost anywhere in Tokyo. Though this looks like the place the garbage men will be picking up from over night.

  That is exactly what's expected. You'll find places to drop cans and plastic bottles but not usually normal trash. You best bet is a convenience store can. There's very very few on the street.

  Rubbish in the pic seems to be left out for the collection the next morning, which is common here.

  Just more visible in some areas as many buildings don't have a designated area for pickup.

  And, yes, you are supposed to throw personal trash back home.

  Yes, the rubbage is left for garbage pick-up. Look how neatly it is arranged in those Tokyo city hall-approved trash bags. I'm not sure about the boxes. 8 or 9 years ago Tokyo removed all trash cans as a cost saving measure, with the slogan "take it home". Strangely, it seems to work pretty well, on the whole and in the long run. I only see a little trash on the sidewalk.
