A freestyle skier leaps into the air from a 15-meter-high slope made of 70 tons of artificial snow on the premises of the Tokyo metropolitan government in Shinjuku on Friday. The slope was built for the March 7-8 event Tokyo Snow Style Tocho (the metropolitan government) with the aim of encouraging people in the urban area to experience snow sports. The event will be held through Sunday from 11 a.m. A special snow space will also be held for children to play.

I started skiing back in 1946. Many ups & downs to Downhill & Giant Alalom. Mind you the "Hot Dog" skiers with 149 to 160 skies were a lot of fun to watch to sometimes ski with.

I quite skiing before the snowboarding came about for I would definately have gone after it, BUT not these doing stunts to you name it. To old now, but starting out on a board is so much easier then short skies reaching around cheek level.

they are trying to get tokyoites off thier butts and to get some fresh mountain air and a bit of excercise. good idea. sports and recreation are a good alternative to moping murdering or masturbating. mind you, I wont be doing any of those except maybe the first one, while I recover from my latest snowboarding injury >.<
