I was there last night !!! It was very nice. Lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Only thing was the police yelling and screaming to much. Keep moving don't stop here. Police are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo annoying !!!!!
Police always expand their rights and jurisdiction when it comes to this event. Police are supposed to be servants of the law, not authority telling people what to do! There is no law saying that governments can block public roads to help generate revenue for private companies organizing and sponsoring the event.
on a compact camera yes, but a decent camera with manual settings on a tripod its actually very easy.
I find about 4-5 secs exposure on high f-stop is about where you want to be. (a low f-stop will result in the centre of the firework explosion being too bright and requires a much shorter exposure time, which you don't want)
That above photo is OK, could be better with more tweaking of the settings.
it's nice. saw the 'grand finale' yesterday from my veranda fireworks in my neighborhood.
summer must be over...(but not the heat or humidity - esp at night)

As for me, I think that this is a pretty spectacular photograph. "Hanabi" are hard to catch on film or digitally.

@Carcharodon: Thanks - I'm a real amateur with cameras, but I appreciate your suggestions.
