Sky high

An eruption of Mount Shindake on Kuchinoerabujima island, is seen from a vessel of the Japan Coast Guard off Kagoshima Prefecture on Friday afternoon. The volcano erupted suddenly, blasting plumes of black smoke 9,000 meters into the sky, prompting authorities to order the evacuation of the island's residents and forcing airlines to divert some flights.
