as previously stated, expecting Jessica Michibata to appear somewhere related to this car crash

oh no, looks like some of japan's lawn is being mowed!

Perhaps after this they could convert what is left into a lawnmower.

    Sarge

Isn't car racing, besides being dangerous, basically a waste of gasoline?

    Great photo.

Awesome crash - awesome photo! I'm just glad Webber stayed out of all the carnage, drove a brilliant race - and extended his championship lead.

seeing how millions of people around the world stay home to watch F1, I would suggest it is a great saving of gasoline.

Car racing a waste of gasoline? Maybe we should stop having night games for baseball because it's a waste of electricity to turn on all those lights. What an absurd argument.

If that wasn't fake grass perhaps it wouldn't have been so bad.

    @gogogo: I think that's sod.

Sarge : high performance automobiles stir the soul and the engine melodies are the Beethoven of machinery...a part of the tapestry of paradise on earth.

@Sarge...unlike other sports, which are purely for entertainment, at least in motorsports, you see some of the technology migrate to passenger cars.

Got to feel for Liuzzi here. He was desperate to have a good race as his seat is very much under threat for next year. Then, not even 20 seconds into the race, he finds a Ferrari smashing into him from the side and ruining his car.

Also got to feel for Robert Kubica. Sensational qualifying, split the Red Bulls at the start and was set for a great race....until his right rear wheel came off. It is surely only a matter of time before Kubica ends up at a top team with a real shot at the World Championship.

I dont know, I love pretty much all sports (even things like bowling and curling) but car racing: F1 or Nascar, bores me to tears.

I agree with Sarge. Grown men playing on a giant-size Scalextric set, putting their own and others' lives at risk, wasting fuel and polluting the atmosphere.

hahahaha and that's why this pic is here lol

Burakumin - Heh, I canna get massacred if Cleo is with me.

It seems that, according to the majority of posters here, car racing is not a waste of gasoline, OK, as long as the same posters don't say we should be buying Priuses or Insights instead of SUVs.

Have to admit, tho, this is a good photo!

    a smashing photo!

    Ranger_Miffy

hmmm, well, since these race cars are powered lawn mowers, how much gas is that, exactly? But, don't worry Sarge, we love you all the same.

Eventually this sport will end--as it is it is too expensive to keep fielding these cars, maintaining, testing, paying drivers and for what, some media exposure. Maybe a pay off in other car sales. Stupid. Oh, it will continue but with cheap a$$ cars. It is a waste of time as much as it is gas and money.
