Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency astronaut Soichi Noguchi takes part in a training session at Star City Cosmonaut Training Center outside Moscow, on Monday. Nouguchi will serve as flight engineer on the International Space Station, and is due to take off from Baikonur cosmodrome on Dec 21.

from what i recall the current spacecraft still use old equipment and computers from the 60-70s. Now either one of two things is happening, that old stuff is still effective and has no need to be updated, or we do need to seriously upgrade it.

Plain simple: in order to train how to use the Russian-made hardware installed (for whatever reason) in the ISS. And is has nothing to do with the "funding to the Aerospace program in Japan."

One thing that I've always wondered about being in zero g - how does one take a dump? I mean, think about it, with no gravity it doesn't just fall into the bowl, now does it?
