So what? Japanese companies are great at copying and creating beautiful Christmas decorations from cultures that actually understand the meaning of Christmas. Sure every culture/country commercializes Christmas. But in Japan it is strictly commercial. No different than Halloween.

Nice touch to put a "string of pearls" on the tree.

So what is the "meaning" of Christmas?

And other people copy by having Buddhas in their homes & gardens and burn incense and chant without having a real clue about Buddhism. People do what they do. Bottom line: bright colourful lights lift the spirits in the pit of the long dark season. Since we don't have places in our urban world for good old-fashioned bonfires (which are also warm), let's do what we can to get through the night. The tree in Ginza looks just fine. It is what it is.
That doesn't stop anyone interested in "the meaning of Christmas" from doing what they do to observe the season in their own way. Even the first Christmas was commercial. People had to return to the towns of their births and be taxed.
