Two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington, right, and director Robert Zemeckis pose for photographers in Tokyo on Wednesday during a news conference to promote their film "Flight." Washington plays a cocaine and alcoholic-addicted pilot who manages to save a disabled plane from greater disaster by rolling it upside down to bring it out of a steep dive ahead of a crash landing. Washington, 58, has been nominated for a Best Actor Oscar at next Sunday's Academy Awards. He said he doesn't think about such things and just tries to live his life one day at a time. "I'm still a work in progress," he said. "Flight" opens in Japan on March 1.

Cool! Been waiting for this to arrive. My GF has been hassling me to take her to see it.

Zemeckis has had my heart since Back to the Future. Cast Away was another goodie. DW is legend. About ten years ago he fell asleep at an award show for him...and his wife had to wake him up. LOL.

It is possible to fly a big jet upside down?

Great, well that's another one I don't have to see, that synopsis may as well be the whole movie.

It isn't. Everything written above is what you see in the trailer.

Finally! Some eye candy for the ladies!

Exactly...... trailers of late, leave me feeling as though I've sat through the entire movie.

Ewan: The trailer for Flight actually leaves out the best bits. It's a little odd in that respect. I mean if you like watching planes go upside down and into a steep dive, then the trailer is accurate but that is really just a small portion of the film and not even the most important bit except as a way to propel the story about the main character's problems. When reviews of the movie came out they talked about how the trailer made it look like an action film when it really isn't.

Ooh, thanks ambrosia, perhaps this could be the exception to the rule :)

I had the honor of being personally directed by Robert Zemeckis during the filming of the movie "Contact" back in the 90's.
(end: cool statement / start: what actually happened)
I was an extra in the Congressional hearing scene. We're all just standing in our places while they're blocking the next shot, and Mr. Zemeckis says, "You in the back in the red tie, move to your right about a foot." I do so and the rest of the day happens uneventfully.
It wasn't until I actually watched the movie that I realized why he picked me out of the hundreds of extras there acting as the hearing spectators: The Kleig lights in the balcony behind us were bouncing off my bald head and must have been throwing a glare on one of the "news monitors" to my left. Moving to the right got rid of the glare.
DOH!

Not a big fan of dissaster films, However, Denzel I am a big fan of...

T-Mack: It's not a disaster film. The plane crash does play a role in it but it's much more along the lines of a minor character than the star or even a supporting actor. If you like Denzel, see the film. It's one of his best in years.

D.Washington looks great at the age of 58 years..
