"Stuck" should be voted 2011 word of the year by Japan.

One of the most amazing aftermath sights of the mega tsunami was the number of large ships misplaced especially the ferry on the roof of a building.

when/if things get back in order, they should transform it into a seafood restaurant

I think it should stay! A symbol / reminder of a tragic day and the power of mother earth. Make it a tourist attraction to bring people and money much needed in the area.

@namabiru4me I agree on that. It's a reminder of how devastating it was

namabiru4me,
Don't worry, I'm sure there are already lots and lots of monuments being planned right now, that's about local governments have been doing for the last 50 years!
Great photo, even though we have become used to this photos like this in the media, it is a good reminder

Who owns this ships? Have they been abandoned, written off? Did insurance reimburse the owners and leave the cleanup to the government?

Lunchbox, that's really quite rude. Lots of local government members lost homes, familiy members, lives, as well. No need to be such a dick.

I think it would be awesome to keep at least one of these big boats in situ and turn it into a restaurant or tsunami memorial museum (if it could be made safe). It would be a major tourist drawcard, which these places will be in need of.

The man standing under the ship looks so tiny but aren't we all in front of the power of nature? Poor ship, I hope it will find its way back into water one day.

Yup, lets just hope the water does not find it's way back to the ship.
