    He's going to have a good time in the U.S. A whole nation of people like him who have mixed backgrounds. We won't refer to Darvish as anything other than an outstanding human being with excellent athletic ability. Let the healing begin.

    It's no coincidence that the Texas Rangers play their summer home games at night. It gets hot,hot, hot. Hope Darvish can deal with that.

    Darvish handle the heat? Pff He's Japanese.... they don't whinge like us Americans. Oh, my beer is too cold, Oh it's too hot I can'y play, Oh the sky is too blue, my salary is too high! We Americans complain about a cold beer on a hot day. Hopefully we can learn how to toughen up! Darvish is gonna blow 'em all of the map! kick some ass kid!

    Funny, if I didn't know who he was, I'd say he looked much like the young guys building a house down the street: unshaven, poor dye job, dressed slovenly. And the dude will make more money in one day than I will make this year. Oh well.

    BTW, I've known a few Japanese who've gone to Texas and they all love it there: the people, the food, the culture: it's "real" America. Just one tip: stay outta Vegas! Know you won't, but Vegas will bleed you dry, Yu.

I guess you Americans must be bottom of the whussy list, cuz I can't tell you how often I have heard the Japanese complain about the weather. The comfort zone is a span of five degrees. One degree either way and they are all "Kyo samuii ne" or "Achh, atsusugiru". Just one degree.

    Regardless, I am sure Texas will suit him as well as any other city. I can't wait to see him play. I hope he is not a flop, like so many before him.

    Darvish is a great addition to the Rangers and from what I hear the Rangers fans are excited to welcome him to the Team.

    How does good athletic ability make you an 'outstanding human being'?

    I see a big cultural gap how we think differently when reading your post here.

    We believe in the truth that everyone has a birth right to excercise his/her potential to the maximum as a human being. He has been an excellent baseball pitcher in Japan, but his potential has not been maximized yet, I believe.
    I am sure he will be able to do so in the US. I am very happy for him.

    Japanese media hype is similar to when Daisuke Matsuzaka joined MLB...And? where's he? what's his standing? Hope Yu Darvish will do better than him.

    Darvish will be the greatest in MLB history. As was proved by two victories in World Baseball Classic, Japan is the world's best baseball.

    But still, how is he an outstanding human being? I don't get it. Someone who cheats on their wife is an outstanding human being? Looks like all you sports fan are once again letting athletic prowess create a moral reality that doesn't exist.
