Japanese horror flicks and animation rock. Japanese hip-hop and 'hard rock' suck. Just doesn't work with the vowel sound at the end of every single syllable (minus 'n'). That said, good to see these guys still rocking! They'll never quite be Gwar, but they can try.

Heavy Metal Band? Really? Looks more like a a two-bit tribute band lost somewhere between Bon Jovi and Black Sabbath with a bit of Meatloaf thrown in for spice. Sad!

whatever hack JT flunky wrote this clearly has no idea about music, music genres or the crapfest which is called X Japan. I guess 97lb ladyboys dressed in black was good enough for this one to imagine they were "heavy metal"

I'll bite. What do you have against X JAPAN, hoserfella? Did they make fun of you in public or something? I don't get it.

Toshi sings really well, but, seriously, are all of the staff too scared to tell him that he looks like cheeseburger-era Elvis ?

I have no idea how big Shepherds Bush Empire in London is, but more importantly, I had no idea these guys have a fan-base outside of Japan... especially somewhere outside of Asia.

It's nice to see Japanese artists get recognised in other countries, and it's nice to see some bands perform outside of Japan. I'm no fan of X Japan but it's nice to see someone get somewhere.

And hoserfella, what is your problem with X Japan? I understand not being a fan, but I don't get this intense hatred.

@hoserfella I'm not sure what your problem with X Japan is. Throughout music history performers have used make up and costumes to add a visual element and tone to their music.

    KISS

    Little Richard

    Michael Jackson

    Twisted Sister

    Culture Club

    Cyndy Lauper

    The Alfie

    Seki Matsu

NetSamurai - they can dress in Tu-Tus for all I care. It's their wussified, over-emotive, limp-wristed music that disgusts me.

Spidapig - Nope. Are u saying you actually like these girly-boys?

    hoserfella,

Each to their own. Some people obviously like this type of music, others dont doesnt mean you have to rubbish them.

In all fairness, X-Japan isn't for everyone. I find it difficult to put them down when I'm sure they make more money than some people. I'm sure they get a boat load of girls to party with them as well. But that's just "sour grapes" for a certain individual. Some fellas will never have that kind of life.

X modeled themselves after KISS .Yoshiki and hide were in charge of the KISS fanclub as kids. There are photos of Yoshiki meeting Gene and Paul, years ago,and Yoshiki is on the KISS MY ASS ,KISS tribute CD. They also did the theme song for the SAW IV movie. You know, huge money maker in the USA. Yoshiki also worked with Roger Taylor of Queen, wrote the soundtrack for a movie with Sarah Brightman, and inspired generations of other bands . Again, have a CLUE .
