Japanese actress Yuki Amami, right, and Seiko CEO Shinji Hattori pose for a photo in front of Seiko's Clock Tower on the rooftop of the Wako Department Store in Tokyo's Ginza district on Monday. Amami, who was selected as a campaign character for the company's newly released women's watch collection "Grand Seiko," is also featured in Seiko's new TV commercial, which will be launched nationwide on Tuesday. Amami, who started her career at Japan's Takarazuka all-female musical theater troupe at the age of 17, told the media she was happy to present the new watch lineup and that she wishes she could see more women actively take part in Japan's business sector and hopes that stylish watches can help their career and boost their self-esteem.

I was given a Seiko for my birthday when I was 10 or 11. I think it cost $29.99 or something like that. It was a nice watch as I remember, but whenever I see these "Grand Seiko" watches selling at Yodobashi Camera for ¥600,000+, I always wonder who actually buys them. It seems like a complete waste of money when you can buy far more prestigious watch brands for the same price.

Yuki Amami is pure class, that's your J role model for young girls right there.

imho looks even better with short hair (not that it matters).

I agree she looks the part. But, what kind of person who left education at 17 is realistically going to be actively taking part in Japan's business sector?
