Tokyo Gov Shintaro Ishihara, right, and TV personality Mino Monta, who is a 2016 Tokyo Olympic Bid Ambassador, left, speak at a public event, “Tokyo Big Talk,” on Tuesday afternoon. About 400 people were invited to the event. Ishihara said, “In Japan now, people don’t have dreams. I want to share the same dream with everyone again.” Monta said: “Having the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo will be greater than the Beijing and London Olympics.” Paralympic gold medal swimmer Mayumi Narita, gold medal gymnast Shinji Morisue, sports journalist Masayuki Tamaki and freelance announcer Rie Uozumi also attended the event as panelists to raise public support for the bid.

In Japan now, people don’t have dreams

What a horrible thing for a governer to say. Shows what J politicians think of the people they are supposed to represent.

"...people don't have dreams" "...greater than the Beijing and London Olympics."

It sounds like a couple of little men with big chips on their shoulders.

Doesn't Mino Monta have enough to do without getting involved in the Olympic bid?

Use that as your advertisement copy...

Tokyo 2016: In Japan, People Don’t Have Dreams.

    And write a theme song.

"Give me one moment in time, When I'll be only as good as I've been in the past"

Ishihara is a scum bag! Yes Shintaro you are a true dirt bag politician. Let's look at the evidence.

    1. You say Japanese people don't have dreams. Well... they do. Just not your dreams. But then you don't care about their dreams do you? You only care about your dreams as you demonstrate again and again.

    2. When you are caught with your hand in their pockets ripping off their hard paid tax yen you get tempermental and act like you are being inconvenienced to answer their questions. Your little bank is nothing more than a front for you to leech money to your buddies, and you make a great habit of dismissing anyone's concerns about your actions.

    3. No one wants the Olympics Ishihara! People want job security, they want to take care of their families and they want to have faith in the future. But again you don't care about that do you? Because you have all the money and connections you need to live out the rest of your life in comfort. Well... most people here don't have that luxury and they want it. That is a BIG DREAM that most working people here toil for day in and day out. But then you wouldn't know anything about work would you?

Finally. I just despise you for the fascist you are. You repress the foreign population here so that it looks like you are doing something about crime. While turning your back to corruption, Yaks and all the other criminal activity that is the real problem.

You act like some kind of petty demigod or some samurai lord ruling over Tokyo because people here are too apathetic to vote you out.

You should be ashamed of yourself for thinking Japanese people don't have dreams. And the people should toss your behind out of office and into exile somewhere cold and dark.

um they don't have dreams because that would take creative thought? what rubbish! of course Japanese have dreams. I don't get what he wants to say at all. is he saying that their dreams don't matter so replace them with the Olympics? Only a politician can make something as positive as the Olympics into a life that doesn't matter.

I thinks Japan dreams that one day it will have a day where there is not a story on JT about a perverse crime in Saitama, or a good story related to foreigners in the country.

Ishihara said, “In Japan now, people don’t have dreams. I want to share the same dream with everyone again.”

Why would Blinky think anyone would want to share his dreams?

I have a dream....that Blinky and all the other old, decrepit, out-of-touch politicians and their numerous woeful, talent-free offspring would leave the public stage.

Moderator: Readers, please do not refer to Ishihara as Blinky. Such expressions have no place in a mature discussion.

In Japan now, people don’t have dreams, on the other hand, is very mature.

Assuming we're using the word euphemistically, as a kinder way to say senile.

So the truth is out. Tokyo's green olympics will see not just the old gas-bag Ishihara harnessed as an environmentally-friendly energy source, Japan is pulling out all the stops and using Mino Monta as well. What a farce, to quote one wellknown politician "Shouldn't people who are making decisions about our country 10 years into the future at least have a chance of living that long?"

Shintaro: So can Tokyo have the Olympics?

    IOC: No.

Mino Munter: FINAL ANSWER? Is it ok for me to rip up this check for 20 million dollars made out to your wife?

IOC: Yeah, OK fellas, I'll take the money.

    Shintaro: What about the Olympics?

    IOC: Zanneeeeeeeen!

Tokyo Taxpayers: What about the money and administrative responsiblity?

    Shintaro and Mino: Zanneeeeeeeen!

If IOC admits Olympic games 2016 in Japan, I want to think the games not in Tokyo. There are other possible good places besides Tokyo. Ishihara thinks Tokyo is a rich and well-known city, so that is reason he wants Olympic games in Tokyo. But Maybe Aomori, Yamagata, etc are good places with cooler weather in summer as I assume Tokyo weather will be hotter 7 years later.

These two characters need their mouths taped shut. They are two of the stupidest people in Japan and say stuff that gets people who don't like to think riled up in the wrong way. Complete idiots.

"In Japan now, people don't have dreams. I want to share the same dream with everyone." Gee, I have a good dream though? That (Mr.) Blinks takes a long walk off a short plank. That's my dream by golly.

And to think of the odds of two of the worlds dumbest people could be in one place at one time. I wonder how all the air stayed in the room with those two together?

The appointment of Mino Monta must surely be a good move for those of us who think this whole Olympics idea is a singularly stupid idea.

Might be rude, but the real questions is: Will they be still alive in 2016?

Yes, but at least for now, they are still sleeping.

Ishihara: "In Japan now, people don’t have dreams."

Yep, but if they had, they wouldn't have voted for you.
