London Mayor Boris Johnson, right, and Tokyo Gov Yoichi Masuzoe pose for photographers after a signing ceremony for a joint declaration and memorandum of understanding at the Tokyo metropolitan government office on Wednesday. Johnson is on a three-day trade mission that will take him to a biotechnology event in Yokohama and then to Osaka. He will also help open a Burberry flagship store in Tokyo's Shinjuku, as well as discuss investment opportunities for the 2019 Rugby World Cup to be hosted by Japan and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Thanks for that great piece of non-information, AP.
Note to BoJo: when wearing Jermyn Street, remember the collar stiffeners, old chap.

Actually like old Boris, who strikes me as being quintessentially British, in a PG Wodehouse sense. Of course, he dresses like a bag of spuds.

Is Tokyo going with that "&"-sign logo. It was shown to be lifted from some other logo the other day. Can't remember which one now.

If doing a trade deal with Boris & the UK , couldn't he at least arrange for some decent British biscuits?

The idea that Johnson could one day visit Japan as Prime Minister makes me shiver.
That would be the end.

I doubt BoJo would have been received by the previous, Xenophope Mayor of Tokyo. Perhaps he's trying to sell some Boris Buses there.

Tokyo-London ties?
Yeah, what better way to strengthen Tokyo-London ties by getting rid of the Virgin Atlantic route. Christ, travelling with BA doesn't really appeal to me.
They've joined the rugby team.

On the main page, I read, "a signing ceremony for a joint...". The photo appears to back that up.
