Being the staunch royalist that he is, Abbott would have appreciated his encounter with the oldest monarchy in the world. Hopefully though, in the near future, young Australians will at last see the folly of such an antiquated system and make Australia a republic. Constitutions which allow privilege by birthright, in other words hereditary superiority, should no longer have a place in contemporary societies.
