A sightseeing boat approaches a whirlpool in the Seto Inland Sea in Tokushima Prefecture. The whirlpool is one of many created by the ebb and flow of currents in Naruto Strait and vortexes can reach up to 20 meters in diameter, swirling at a velocity of 20 kilometers per hour.

It's a lovely sight, but I'm going to be a bit of a contrarian here and say it's not all that good of a photo. Sorry. I've seen much better photos of these whirlpools around the web.

Agreed. You need to lean out a bit further to get some topside angle on it.

I'm going to be more contrarian and say that this looks like what will happen to all Western economies, mostly due to the income gap problem we have.

Ebb is the opposite of when the tide comes in. Ebb is when the tide goes out. When the water recedes.

Awesome photo. My dream is to go swimming into the whirlpool. Unheard of for Japanese, but an Aussie could handle it with ease!
