XYLITOL in Kibo
Picture of the Day ( 17 )
Kibo, Japan’s experiment module about the space station, has been used for a TV commercial for Lotte Corp’s chewing gum XYLITOL. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) has called for commercial use of Kibo since last November. The project was titled “Lotte XYLITOL Mission.”

Very nice and creative shot, a great idea for an original commercial.

Stop it please. Great idea for an original commercial? As opposed to all the poor ideas for original commercials? Anyway I've seen commercials similar to this one a thousand times, maybe a million. There's nothing creative about it, and it certainly isn't original, like most things Japanese it's simply ripped off from the more sensible West and then made strange, so that some people sitting in their basements find it interesting.

Who decorates these space stations anyways!? I mean pllllease. I little bit of fuschia here, a little bit of lemony yellow there would go a long way. Time to bring in the Fab 5.

Gum, floating. Wow, amazing stuff here.

What I'd like to know is how much Lotte paid to have their product launched into orbit and to use the ISS for commercial purposes...

More importantly, was there any chewing gum in the container?

Come on don't be so negative. What other commercial features a product floating through space in real time, without special effects. Don't be ashamed to admit that this is a very cool product placement ad.

May be something 'creative' for money making, but it looks more like a 'tin-laundry' or airplane passing through 'turbulence.'

Now that's creative.
Ah it's all becoming very clear now. As clear and fresh as the chewing gum we (the government) like and recommend, XYLITOL. If you consume this product, you too can fly into space, if you were ever down-to-earth to start with.

The word is Xylitol. XYLITOL is a trademark.
From the planet Xylitol in the galaxy Aspertame.

It sure is. And the product of which is what this thread and picture of the day is about. But thanks for your efforts to derail it into another dimension. Let me know how it was when you get back.

"chewing gum"
Whenever I see people chewing gum, I think of cows for some reason...

"chewing gum"
When I was a kid, I used to be jealous of other kids blowing bubbles with their gum because I couldn't do it. I finally blew my first bubble with a piece of Bazooka bubblegum when I was maybe 11... I haven't chewed gum in years...
"XYLITOL"
Does that taste anything like Bazooka bubblegum?

actually xylitol is the only trustworthy one, I am glad Japan uses the stuff rather than aspartame, which has a cloud over its safety. The USA etc all love the supersweet taste,so they stick with it rather than xylitol.
shame though XYLITOL is a rubbish gum, why couldn't have 'Clorets' made the ad ;)
FWIW I think it's a great idea for an ad, sure "Fake space" ads have been around for ages, but a genuine space ad - thats something different.

people in advertsising/marketing are so clever, where do they get all their wacky ideas?
