Oh, damn. That is really, really unpleasant. I think Stephen King once said he had seen the future of horror, and that its face was Clive Barker. I have seen the future of horror, and it is whatever this is.

VOM-IT!

No, I will not be wearing any of that next year, the year after, or ever.

Maybe the hat at the back has a chance.

No one who knows anything about fashion actually thinks the avant-garde designs that fancy designers put on catwalk models will ever actually be worn by normal people.

What you'll be wearing in 2018

No I wont

Love the headline, haha well done JT! Sarcasm at its best,

Always wanted to wear white leggings or white clown pants (to go to the beach), glad I'll finally be able to wear these without looking ridiculous next year. About time!

A fashion line composed entirely of wardrobe malfunctions.

If I were to go outside wearing any of those, I would be beaten to death with sledgehammers. Or thrown into an asylum.

Whatever happened to just wearing normal clothes? I miss the days when guys would wear t-shirts featuring a band logo and faded jeans. Or when girls would wear a nice summer dress. Nowadays is the poser vests (also referred to as "Wife Beaters" since that's typically the kind of guy who wears those kinds of vests), jeggings, onesies, tube tops that barely even cover the nipples (let alone the rest of the torso), and yoga pants that look like they were shredded by Freddy Kruger.

I guess the rumours are true then: If you fail at art, don't worry: you can become a fashion designer instead. Your artistic abominations will become best-selling fashion trends, popular amongst the brainless conformists who will throw money at you as long as you let them remain as part of the sheep flock.

Love the off-the-shoulder-half-pantaloon on the guy on the left. Doesn't quite coordinate with the used tennis shoe at the end his white silk-stockinged right leg though.

It's just not me.

Interesting chick wearing as yet pristine Y-fronts on the right. I wonder if they paid her a lot to wear that. Or if she just digs old-fashioned inconvenient undergarments like the rest of them?

This is for Holloween in Roppongi, right? This certainly would not work in Shinjuku.

I'm torn over if this is better or worse than the terrible culottes everyone actually wears.

Meiko Ban must have been stoned when he designed this. Did his drink or his soup have magic mushrooms in it or what?

One sick designer.

Not sure what I'll be wearing in 2018, but my computer screen is wearing coffee in 2017.

Interesting chick

The 1950s called and it wants its misogyny back.

11 people trapped in a flooded train split the only dry clothes on being rescued, a wedding dress and a sailor's outfit. Said one of those rescued "You had to be there, we'd been wearing the same clothes all day, then the mud in the water made us stink even worse. You can laugh now, but at least we have our dignity. Who knows? Maybe everyone will try it?"

Whilst I wouldn't wear such clobber; bit too Game of Thrones pantomime and probably too expensive for the likes of me; fair play to the designers. Shows a vivid creativity and imagination.

Isn't it great to have choice? Freedom? Expression?

They won't. These designs are made to show the designer's skill and technique, use of fabric, colour, stitching, design sense, narrative and so on. They're also meant to be provocative, eye catching and original. Even Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano had to start somewhere....

I'm possibly the least fashionable person there is. But I can certainly appreciate it in others. Especially in Japan; where you will see a myriad of stylish people on the city streets any given day. And despite the oft repeated conformism of Japanese (a myth, I reckon) there is a uniqueness that I have not seen in other cities.

David Bowie, subject of the recent V&A exhibition, took inspiration from Japanese designers. And just look at the influence of samurai garb when it comes to Hollywood, like Darth Vader. Or Klingons. Or even martial arts - like in Kill Bill.

Not that I'll be strolling around in those outfits, either. Is there comic con here? I suppose cosplay is another fashion form that has caught on outside of Japan, too.

Vive la difference and all that.

Shocking - which I guess is the point.

Those pants on the right look familiar. I wondered where I'd put them.

Judging from that picture, it's torn thrift store rags?

Pass.
