'“For prosperity and stability in the region, it is necessary for the three of us to build mutual understanding,” Abe said.'
Yeah, reneging on apologies, changing textbooks, denying sexual slavery, putting heaps more into defense, declaring you're going to change the constitution, telling new military recruits not to give in to 'threats' (ie. China), visiting right-wing shrines and temples.... sounds like Abe's got relations more or less down to a T.

“I want to say that Japan’s door is always open toward China,”
Yeah, only opens inwards for Abe, though. It's certainly not a door that swings both ways. I love how he pretends to take the high road with this worn-out sound-bite though.

"I want to say that Japan's door is always open"
So is the revolving one that ejects failed Prime Ministers.

Wrong generation. Justin Bieber would be better suited for that one, already had the Worm.

In Abe's defense. No country should give into foreign threats. Korea and China would do the same if Japan was threatening them. Any self respecting country would.
Abe is trying to mend his relationships with his two most important neighbours. Likewise for Korea and China. East Asia needs to be more united. Their is no logic to this madness. The West is leaning back and laughing.

Abe should stay home. No one is going to take his double speak seriously.

@EastAsianForeigner - well said.
The hyperbole from 'Japan is the most evilist nation in the world' crews in Korea and China is completely counter-productive to any form of meaningful co-operation between the 3 Asian powerhouses. While the nations in Europe who massacred each other for centuries have risen above the past hate for their mutual betterment, the inability of Chinese and Korean politicians (and other hot-heads) to do so makes their nations look immature and petty to outsiders. The victim card don't wash when one remains intent on continually stirring up hostility.

Abe, instead of just empty talk for publicity stunt to make yourself looks good, please tell the world what you want to say to the Chinese and S Koreans. Why have a meeting when you have nothing to offer, to compromise?
Tell you what: tell your nationalist constituents to keep quiet, don'tmake any waves. Tell China you are ready to drill jointly per the 2008 oil/gas exploration agreement and China just might stop patrolling the disputed islands.
Go back to the previous 'agree to disagree' status way back when everybody kept a very low profile, pre Ishihara publicity stunt. THAT will be a good start to put back 'Humpty Dumpty' and we can all get going with the real business of economic progress for all.
I wish you all the best Abe, but you must control your own constituents first AND no Yasukuni Shrine visit ever!

It is hard for me to believe that Abe is a PM of Japan. The way he talks is not much different from drunken sailor abusive and colorful language just before the brawl in pub. All of his words are demanding. He is undipolmatic, arrogant and hawkish. He has to realize that he is representing Japan for international stage. He is no longer a punk looking for fight on the street. He is immature for his age. He is not fully polished or trained for the highest office of Japan.
I have never seen other nation leaders out sponken and inflammable like Abe. He should realize that Japan is the land of Setting Sun. It is not a land of rising Sun.
He still need to be educated like Geisha ladies for civilized manner and friendly posture. He should abadon the wild behaviours of fighting cock. Nationalism and pride of being Japanese is very good for campaining for winning election. It is purely for domestic comsumption. It is not suitable for diplomacy and public relation with neighbors. When he is in Rome, he is a Roman and he is no longer 大和魂 ( pure and clean Yamato -damashii).
He is no longer campaining for office. He is serving as PM now. It is time for him to grow up and adapt the reality now.

Abe should definitely go over to China soon - and stay over there.

That's a good suggestion, Burakumin-san.

"I do believes Mr Abe has a good will toward his neighbours both China or ROK, but the fact is who knows what next Mr Abe is going to say about WW2 atrocities once he returned to his country! Mr Abe says different stories in different days and different locations as long as he needs those rightist supports!"
Wasn't Abe's father.. or was it grandfather... can't remember. Weren't they war criminals that got off scott free?
