Anyone else think this could be a hard sell?

Qatar and Kuwait have shown interest in Japan’s nuclear safety technology.

So have we. So have we.

Take some bottled water from fukushima to show them japan's handy work.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Why not nuke technology from the Ukraine too while you're at it.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

The timing of this is so....................... oh the irony of it all

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Given the timing of Abe's trip, how far can we trust his NRA poodle's latest damage limitation exercise?

Reality is indeed stranger than fiction!

I had to check my calendar, just to make sure it wasn't April 1, and this article was not someone's idea of an April Fool's Day joke. I still couldn't stop laughing while reading the news and was amazed at the sheer audacity of this. Then the seriousness of it hit me, which made me stop laughing abruptly.

A couple of sentences really stand out in this story:

The article states that an official at the Japanese foreign ministry said that Qatar and Kuwait have shown interest in Japan’s nuclear safety technology.

Furthermore, it says that a Japanese official said that Qatar and Kuwait are therefore concerned about a possible accident and any environmental impact that might be inflicted as a result.

Really? While they are at it maybe, they should also ask for North Korea's expertise in non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, Egypt's expertise in creating a democratic society, Putin's expertise in fostering a free press, Syria's expertise in peaceful coexistence of its citizens, Israel and the Palestinians' expertise in conflict resolution, Saudi Arabia's expertise in giving women equal rights, Yemen and Pakistan's expertise in combating terrorism, Iraq's expertise in nation building, and Iran's expertise in creating a modern and liberal state.

These are just as logical and will make just as much sense as Japan's "expertise" in nuclear safety technology, prevention of nuclear accidents, and its ability to manage the environmental impact of nuclear accidents.

Whatever happened to the famous Japanese sense of modesty and humility?

abe on holidays peddling japanese nuclear technology, while at home here in japan there is extreme danger with nuclear contaminated water soaking the land and spilling into the sea.

is this abe guy for real? or is he just escaping because he doesn't want to be affected be the radioactivity leaking everywhere now?

"...with discussion of Japan’s nuclear know-how expected to be on the agenda."

Know-how? Which one? How to organize corruptions? How to get the media silent about nuclear issues? How to make sure that the population is as ignorant as possible? How to organize covers up? Give me a damn break.

Japanese destroyed nuclear reactors are releasing highly contaminated water to the ocean, the situation is a mess, it will cost an unimaginable amount of money to clean half of it and this guy is selling around the Japanese crap. This is not real. The arrogance of these dudes is beyond imagination.

And what about this Japan's nuclear safety technology? I mean Mitsubishi has been found recently to have sold defective steam generators to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station in California. What technology are they talking about?

How can he dare ?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Like JSTOKYO, I couldn't believe this headline when I saw in on Japan Today.

Abe has a MASSIVE situation in Fukushima that threatens to contaminate HUGE AREAS in the country he is supposed to be leading. And spread to its neighbours.

This is an ALMOST UNBELIEVABLE LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY.

He should be devoting all his time and energy into fixing this. Or at least, he should be doing this IF he cared about his people. But, by his actions you know him.

Profit, for Abe is more important than people's lives.

One slight "oops sorry," or another earthquake or tsunami and the whole lot will go up. If it starts to go, there is no way to stop it. The only thing we will be able to do is to place our heads between our legs and kiss the nether regions goodbye.

Good luck with that, Abe san!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Is this guy stupid?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Abe shamelessly doing his monkey business thing. One would be mad to buy Japan nuke technology even if for free. We shall have no place to live on earth if countries buy japan nuke technology.

7 ( +6 / -0 )

@JSTOKYO

Thank you for saying exactly what I thought (I also laughed as I read the article...) How can Abe dare to use the words "Japanese expertise" in "nuclear know-how and safety" ? It's "anbareebabul"...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Japan's expertise in nuclear safety has put the world in peril as more than what is reported is going into the ocean. Radio active fish have been reported in the United States and Canada. Boy you really know how to make a mess, we need your expertise. You can not clean it up and it harms more people than dropping a bomb. I think the Jihad-ists would be very interested. Abe thinks he can make money and save Japan's face while hiding the truth from the people of Japan. Japan no longer reports the level of radiation and does not want outsiders involved because then it would go public. Only fools or those who want to destroy the world would want to know about Japan's nuclear safety.

Wow selling on a disaster, now that is stupidity or an unawareness of huge quantity. Not hard to see where the money comes from guess he needs to placate his paymasters.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

This is truly very creative coming from the new Prime Minister of Japan. I guess he had been successful selling refrigerators to the Eskimos?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Japan has 2 major competencies to export as of now: global eco-terrorism and arrogance/impunity...it is a shame that we do not have a global nuclear policing authority to keep such arrogant n errant guys like abe into check. Forget IAEA which only says its work is to provide advise, not policing...they compared themselves to gun-sellers.

7 ( +10 / -2 )

counter-current genius. criminal to say the least.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Nice one Abe. It's not like Japan had one out of two of the worst nuclear disasters in history, not to mention how out of control this one now is.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Comments are negative, due to a misunderstanding, Japan (although highly toxic ) is the BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD, please remember this. Sure the food chain has been compromised. Absolutely there is good cause for concern but Shogani! I can go to work every day, happy in the knowledge that my Government has my best interest at heart.its very regrettable if I am wrong.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

and why all this petro chemical rich countries need nuclear power plan? simple they want to produce their own nuclear weapons !!!

1 ( +4 / -2 )

I just wonder how the Arabs can keep a straight face when Abe san starts his sale pitch..................

5 ( +5 / -0 )

The technology itself isn't all that unsafe. The location, management and remediation, on the other hand...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I'm sure Countries are very anxious to get their hands on Japan’s nuclear safety technology. It's comical how stupid Japan continues to look on their handling of this crisis. it's no wonder the Country is dying a slow death. Very sad indeed!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Don't forget to mention, Abe, that you're 'technology' is meant to last a minimum amount of years, but lasts less, and then causes disasters. Best of luck.... but hey, you're not looking at the bottom line in SELLING things, eh?

Made in Japan.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

.......... Um I fail to comprehend. It is not like we are talking about something that can cause long-lasting harm or anything.....

Please PLEASE world wake up.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

(and btw that means I don't agree with Abe's move)

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Is this a joke? Hahahahahahaha. Nuclear saftey! Haha

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Is this guy stupid?

No, he isn't smart enough to be!
