A canny move from Mr Abe, because the Internet - by which I mean "Japanese websites" here- is full of nationalists and right wing people, who like to bang on about Korea, China, job scarcity, money and so on. This way, Abe san can do his populist bit.
Whether they'll vote for them is another issue though. According to a survey I read a few months ago, these are the same people who don't bother to go to voting stations but would rather stay in front of their PCs and discuss politics for the future of Japan.

It's about time that the PM's office here catches up with reality. I hope however that their net' security is up to snuff.
It is a smart move too aimed more towards the younger voters out there that are more adept at using social media than the older folks who need TV and newpapers to get their information.

If the world dumbs down any faster, I'll need a video recorder to play it back in slow motion to observe the process.

It all sounds very good, i am happy that he is taking things so seriously and dong so well so far. As for the use of internet social networking, dont pay any attention to that, it is silly nonsense and will prove to be yet another fad I am sure. It means nothing that the idiot american President has people with so little to do with their time and so little intelligence that they "follow" him when they can get all they need of his nonsense on the TV every day. Abe is a very promising strong leader, just what Japan needs now I feel. Thanks for a fine article with good coverage apart from paying too much attention to that ridiculous networking fad. :)

Abe should tell the trugh that there is no appetite for JGB bonds in Japan. Because of this, JGB bonds will be forced to go to international market with 5 or 6% interest. This is a miscalculation of Abe. This is exactly what China has been waiting for. Japan will be next US. China will eat you up. Japanese are not thinking ahead.
Good luck.
