So end the countrywide speech farce now and save taxpayers money.

The poll was conducted Saturday and Sunday by telephone on those who said they are members or fraternity members of the LDP with voting rights for a party leader election.

"Kyodo" should have verified their claim of being eligible voters and collected their votes rightaway, call it electronic-voting. Instead of saving public money they are helping telephone companies (NTT) by conducting such polls from time to time.

Ridiculous. Aso = PM = defeat for LDP at next election. Simple as that.

  • GW at 10:12 AM JST - 15th September

maybe its a good idea to let this jerk win now while things are bad, after his first couple of gaffs he can be gone, I mean how much damage cud he do now other then piss off the neighbours which is a given anyway

Whatever, whichever... Aso isn't the sharpest knife in the box and will blow it one way or another, adding to the long line of LDP lame-ducks before and after Koizumi. Aso has political cunning, as they all f$%`!g do but as a leader he will be as useless as tits on a bull. And as GW says, will be gone in six months to a year. I guarantee it. Japan, the Nikkei and the local governments will just continue treading water as they have been since the bubble burst.

He's another Abe. Just going try to make nationalistic issues out of WW2, Yasukuni, textbooks etc. Didn't work for Abe, hopefully won't work for Aso.

It's not as if he has anything new to offer. If he really did do anything to improve the economy in Japan it would break the LDP's election-winning machine and that would never do.

How long before Aso makes the first diplomatic gaffe and pisses off another country.

  • jerseyboy at 03:38 PM JST - 15th September

Hot tip...buy some land in "nowhere". Aso will soon be paying for a road to be built there. But kiss pension reform goodbye. Aso doesn't have the balls to raise the consumption tax.
