I'd really like to know how much weight this issue really has with the Japanese people. There are at least a couple of articles each week about it in the news. How many years has it been?

It's a fight against time? That's great, coming over 30 years after the last incident of it!

The abductions are an extremely big problem as it is an ongoing issue

The fact that this issue is in any way a priority is very disturbing. I'm getting sick of having to hear about this... Of course I feel sorry for the families involved but they also seem to be quite selfish.

Abe used this issue to get elected PM, which of course he failed at doing miserably.

It is totally a non-issue now and is only a political trick that the LDP uses to get voters to vote for them. Now the issue has trapped them as they are totally powerless to do anything about it.

Aso has to take a few pictures and say the right thing and then he will completely forget about this matter as its totally useless.

If it was your daughter who was abducted it would not be a non-issue!

Actually, DPJ heads (Kan and Hatoyama) have also had meetings with the families in the past and offered the same sentiments as well.

dr jones, I could not have had a daughter in 1970. Bur thanks for playing.

nigelboy, of course the dpj had to pretend to be interested as the ldp made this phony issues such a huge political game.

Just ask yourself this, after years of the ldp making this the number one issue in japan, forcing nhk to report on it daily, what has it accomplished. Nothing is the honest answer. Nothing.
