Time for Aso to go, and the sooner the better.

We cannot let the DPJ take care of economic policy in Japan.

Because the LDP have done such a stellar job of taking care of it?

    non-existent pensions...slashed bonuses...rising taxes....

The only way the DPJ or any other party could do worse would be if they actually started a shooting war with NK and invaded the Hopporyodo islands for good measure.

"One minister called for ‘‘differentiating’’ the party’s manifesto from that of the DPJ as it works on compiling a series of campaign promises for the upcoming election, according to the government’s top spokesman."

You just have to love it -- they're going to suddenly make up a bunch of promises just before an election. Hmmm...

"Because the LDP have done such a stellar job of taking care of it?"

Hey, I don't remember Aso saying they wouldn't do a better job -- he just said "We cannot let the DPJ take care of economic policy in Japan". I personally think it was an aside that he accidentally said out loud. :)

People I've talked to who float around in political circles are mentioning that Aso might very well go down as one of the worst Japanese PMs in history. It's probably not exactly fair because he inherited quite a big mess, but he definitely hasn't done much to clean it up.

Before the DPJ measures for new curtains and orders the new stationary, do they have a plan?

I think the point was that he wanted to keep his job....

Before the DPJ measures for new curtains and orders the new stationary, do they have a plan?

    Of course they do!!

    'First, win the election'.

Not just electorally Toxic, Aso is stupid to boot.

LDP = terrible / DPJ = no better than the LDP. When is someone who can actually lead Japan going to emerge from this bunch of grifters and back slappers?

"We cannot let the DPJ take care of economic policy in Japan."

I am surprised. I did not know we had an economic policy in Japan. Being an export dependent economy and a dollar around 92yen I see no policy at all...
