The LDP is playing with fire.
Aso, stay away from BOJ. Keep it independent, PERIOD.

Abe has no right to "insist" or make any such "demands." The BOJ's indpendence is backed by the laws of the land.

Is it just me or does BOJ make others smile as well?

Strictly speaking, BOJ does not need absolute independence from government.
In many countries, central bank has the policy of inflation target set by government.
So long as LDP does not go further than this, I do not worry so much about it.
However, maybe LDP would pressure BOJ to buy bonds to fund out of control spending by government. This is the real problem.

Let me get this straight. The government will not coerce the BOJ into signing a policy accord as long as the BOJ follows the government's policy. Wow. Abe must have a really low respect for ordinary people's intelligence.

Aso and Abe are using the same, old, and failed policies to revive the economy. Cut wasteful spending at all levels, lower taxes on income and business, and foster more entrepreneurship-that's what the government needs to do.
Deflation is a symptom of a stagnant economy not the problem in itself.
