"Now is the appropriate time" ask people, political experts, economists and if any doubt astrologers.

Hmm . . . how is it possible to wait for 'an appropriate time' to call 'a SNAP election.' Snap decisions are usually called without much pre-thought. One does not wait for an appropriate time.

The appropriate time will be the last possible date available, as there is no way in hell he is going to win.

'...after clarifying what the issues would be’ the Japanese leader said. What? You don't know what the issues would be yet? Does it take a crystal ball to determine what people are going to be worried about by September? How about their behind-schedule house payments, their unresolved pension account details, the fact that they're facing a 3 million yen salary to support a family of three which is partly seasonal work that may or may not be there next year...

Unfortunately, the LDP will get back in power. This is because it is better organized (and thus can get more voters to the polls). Its coalition partner, Komeito, will also manage to get the zealot hordes to the ballot box (despite Komeito the political party claiming that it has severed links with the religious movement). Why saying this, however, because the LDP might loss some of its seats, Aso will be made to fall on his sword (him not having the factional power to play with the big boys). The next PM? No idea, I think the LDP might use the next election to conduct a bit of a generational purge of older members.

Make your own economic stimulous plan before the time comes to kick you out of the office, old man!

Marching angry villagers with flaming torches and pitchforks will be the first sign.

The "appropriate time" will be just after voters have received their Y12000 bribe money in a month or two.

He has no mandate. His economic plans are taking shape, a very bad shape. Take the test Aso, take the test. Or continue your LDP despotism. Obama should not meet this Aso until he has a mandate from the public.

Anyone know how to phrase 'jumping the shark' in Japanese?
