    i would welcome this announcement without even knowing the merits or motives, but hope it is not at the cost of various aid packages 'promised' to Africa, Afghanistan, Iraq....

    There goes my tax money. Just as long as they don't increase the damn ward tax to pay for it.

    Some interesting and more detailed stories on this are available. Apparently, Japan is looking to spend this money to increase its clout on the international stage. While this is a good thing (Japan has alway punched far below its weight in international affairs), I believe some caution is necessary.
