Mr aso. There's no need to try hardonmy account, I think you need a rest from politics be public life.
norinrad21 at 05:34 PM JST - 18th January
If only the Japanese youth would get involved in politics. This clown needs to go

If Aso does it successfully, Japan will have Nobel Prize for Economics for the year 2009 ! At the moment it sounds good for Manga Award !

Abe is waiting for Aso to join him in his rest home for retired PMs.
Aso is the Bush of LDP, its destroyer. Bush passed his taxpayers refund which had zero impact as the US economy got worse after funds were distributed. Japanese people know better yet Aso will push for this till his own party is destroyed by it and by Aso himself.
PM Ozawa, get ready.

Aso, 68, ... Almost all parents are working their hearts out to provide their kids with 'proper' education and what is the result? Is there nobody in their 30s or 40s coming out of all that efforts and 'invested' money who is smart enough to lead this country? Get those senile golfers out and bring in some fresh wo/man who has a clue about reality.

Some serious overtime needed me thinks...

It should read "Aso vows to work hard to FIX election, WIN Japan's economy"
Shumatsu_Samurai at 09:40 PM JST - 18th January
Aso or Ozawa, what a lousy choice. Can't the electorate just have a pre-election ballot, reject both of them and insist the parties vote for new leaders?
smithinjapan at 10:05 PM JST - 18th January
Aso probably won't make it to the election, and the LDP will vote in another old codger who knows nothing. Then it'll be a choice between him and Ozawa -- a man who himself has quit twice and come back, and can't say a thing about what he'll do, only that he'll be a 'change' from the current LDP politics. In other words, he'll be exactly the same.

Japan desperately needs change. Aso and Osawa should get out of the way so we can vote for their sons.
UnagiDon at 12:55 AM JST - 19th January
I predict that one of them will be proven correct.

Which parties are pledging to lose?

what if they held an election, and no one came?
saborichan at 11:52 AM JST - 19th January
Everything would be as usual?
realist at 10:34 PM JST - 19th January
Pity it wasnt a real General Election, where all the seats are up for grabs, and not the current farcical arrangement where only half the seats are voted for at any one time, thus perpetuating the LDP Fascist grip on power.
