Nothing more than a sight seeing tour I presume? It is not an amusement park you know...

tokyokawasaki - Did you say the same thing about the Australian prime minister's visit?

I assume Vice President Biden's arrival will be in Tokyo? I, too, will be arriving in Japan on the 22nd, but at KIX so hopefully will not be impacted by the increased security needed for the VP. I, for one, feel his offcial visit is a good thing, not just a sightseeing political junket.

His visit is a gesture of support. Mr. Biden has held office long enough to understand that human suffering is not something to be taken lightly. Say what you will about politicians (and they deserve most of what people say about them), but they're still human beings and they still have compassion. (That's not to say that they aren't also calculating a way to use the situation to their advantage, but still.)

Serrano - I would say the same for anyone who goes to the affected areas just to rubber neck. If they visit and offer tangible support or aid fair enough. Otherwise they should stay away.

The 3 times I have volunteered in Ishinomaki, you get sick and tired of tourists turning up taking photos and just generally get in the way.

Like the UN secretary, his little visit will be accompanied by a request for money, soldiers etc. Wonder if Kan will be there to meet him...didn't he get the boot?

Will he sample the delicious vegetables, fruit and beef that Japan is pushing on their people? I did not think so.

I think the tourists are reasonable-sure they add salt to the wounds, but I never hear the Ishinomaki people complaining about that. What I do hear, is the hurry up attitude that it seems this article about Biden expresses, is plenty annoying. As if theyre winding up a thankyou.

And we all know that there is positive for lots if dialogue moves; so make sure we all know that the thankyous would go both ways, instead of 'I built it in 30days' now say thank you, and dont complain about the part you didnt ask for. Some people would rather suffer slowly and rebuild slowly and take the salt, than hurry into thakyou,yk.

@Tokyowasaki I have been to Ishinomaki two times with Jhelp.

She is right though, Sendai doesn't even look like it was hit anymore, at least not from the main road on the way through. It was politicians in this administration in America that told people on TV right after this disaster that they shouldn't donate money or supplies because Japan is a rich country.
