Eating bits of the sun every morning? Believers of Kurozumikyō cult inhale a bit of the sun every morning and believe that our soul is a bit ("bun-shin") of the sun. As of 1978 it claimed 200 thousand followers.
I can`t figure out if this is potentially a bigger embarrassment to Japan even than Aso and the blottoed finance guy, or a great opportunity to inject a bit of life and interest into an image of Japan and Japanese politics that is currently pretty staid and lucklustre.
Either way, it`s proving to be an interesting week politically!
Not only British papers are into that story. It is all over the web and
all european papers have a lot fun. But I do know a bit about that sun eating stuff and that abduction by aliens story. I worked in a hospital where we treated people like this often. But then again, she is a bit off her head and so are the most Japanese. So no need to worry !
some people belive that a leader is not only a political leader but, also a moral compass/role model for the rest of society. if hatoyama's house is out of order, it reflects poorly on him and negates his ability to speak to issues of family, domestic order and harmony. people wanted to lynch clinton after he got lewinsky'd in the oval office. too bad the DPJ haven't figured out a way to keep the media away from mrs. hatoyama. her loose lips WILL sink ships.
I think that's a good call by the Times and while the foreign
media will have some fun with her eccentricity I can't see that she'll be a political liabilty in the slightest - quite the opposite I suspect.
She might be a little wacky but that doesn't mean she's stupid and it certainly doesn't mean that Hatoyama's house is in any way "out of order".
Hatoyama: whats for brekfast?
Miyuki: Sun
Hatoyama: aww not again!
Miyuki: This is what they eat on Venus
Hatoyama: That is because they have no choice. Living on Venus would be like living in Yellowstone park when it explodes.
Miyuki: How would you know? You have never been to Venus. I have. Its green and lush.
Hatoyama: (mumbles) you are a lush...
Miyuki: WHATS THAT? (waves kitchen knife used to cut up Sun Particles)
Hatoyama: Said this Sun breakfast sure is good.
British papers love the wacko japan thing. From what i'm told on location reporter submits normal japanese story back to uk; it gets binned or edited by the time it gets to the editor.. they are only intreasted in news from Japan if it fits their image of what news from Japan should be .... is that news then?anyway.

When I was working in Korea my GF name was Sun....no need to detail the rest of the story, but I can relate to what Miyuki enjoys.

Hmmm. I just wonder how much of the kookiness can rub off onto the PM.

Most Japanese? That may be from your own narrow perspective.
