Wow, the most contrived analogy made by the most dillusioned President in US history. The factor of contrivity could lie almost as much as J-nationalists purpoting that Japanese imperialism liberated Asia. I wonder how many people on JT will defend the analogy before the end of the day. In the age when Japan is critised for white-washing history for taking a perspective that portays the Pacific War as a virtue, why should the US be given the privilege to do so for their aggression?

Bush comparing a war to an occupation and the American public will fall for it again. Iraq has never been a unified country and the only loyalty the citizens have is to there tribe or religion. Huge difference from the Germans and Japanese. This lame duck is really quacking!

What an imbecile.
Post war plans for Japan and Germany were started several YEARS before World War 2 formally ended. Post occupation plans for Iraq? A mere few months.
Japan and Germany were destroyed to the fullest, the spirit and will of their people to fight further were eliminated for the most part. Saddam was quickly disposed of, population of Iraq didn't know what the heck was going on, and occupiers royally screwed things up from day one in Iraq. No concrete plans, corruption rife at all levels of American and Iraqi government and representatives. Warning signs of insurgency were completely ignored all the way to the top, screw up after screw up from people who had no clue how to properly run a country. Darn Shinseki sure seems like a genius now, ey?
What a royal buffoon.

Agreed. Bush is "the idiot" and history will most certainly remember him as one of the most incompetent leaders in American history. I am convinced that without 911 he would not have been remembered at all. He and his handlers have clearly leveraged this tragedy in a failed effort to cover up the short comings of a man who should never have been elected to town council let alone president.
I'm still ashamed that my country re-elected him in 2004. Simply shameful.

Seems our CIC isn't taking into account that both the Germans and Japanese gave a sh*t about rebuilding their countries. The only thing the Iraqis care enough to kill each other over is religion.

It's my understanding the Iraq used to be Babylon, one of the most powerful nations in the world at one time (very very long ago). Am I wrong?

And seems as well your idiotic CIC forgot there was no oil in Germany or Japan... oh, and that WWII was COMPLETELY different than the illegla invasion of Iraq and subsequently meaningless war.

Doesn't he have a speech writer? Who lets him say stuff like this? As for this line...
“We need to recognize that the only way that America can lose the war on terror is if we defeat ourselves"

"We didn't invade Iraq for the oil. If we did I wouldn't be paying $4.45 a gallon for regular, would I?"
That's what makes any defense of Bush so funny.... it was supposed to make the average Joe pay less at the pumps, now you just like fools all around.

According to who, smith? A bipartisan Congress agreed on authorization for regime change and liberation of Iraq. And unless I missed it nowhere is there mention of a guarantee of lower prices at the pump.
Where is your proof that we are in Iraq cuz a da oil,man ?
We'll need more than t-shirt.
Waiting.
