Funny how they put this story in the Politics section.

I had no idea he was even in Japan! At least he and Koizumi are good friends.

^^^ Jesus man lol at demonstrators throwing shoe. Great!

Finally he does something that he can't screw up too much. Headline. "Bush finally pitches right"

    girly through..

Man, his throw is 'Bush' league!

  • 0

    diggerdog

i soooo wish the head line was first pitch thrown at Bush, that would have been so much better

  • 0

    Beelzebub

It seems Bush is working up the courage to crawl out of his burrow. He is apparently banking on the John Q. Public's short memory of events perceived to be significant or noteworthy, which does not extend back beyond the recent death of Michael Jackson.

    He throws like a girl.

  • 0

This is just wrong. George Brush, tumble-weed home please.

  • 0

No mention of him getting booed by the crowd. Strange, that.

It would have spoiled the game for me, having to sniff the stench of war-monger.

  • 0

threw a pitch that bounced once in the dirt before being caught.

That's strange, scouts said he possessed "weapon of mass destruction" slider.

I wish the headline was 'War criminal Bush caught and sent to Guantanamo Bay to be water boarded' - a little long but sums up my feelings. I really don't know why this man is still outside prison because his criminal behaviour is widely known. I salute the shoe thrower, though. Wish I'd thought of that.

Politics aside, Bush has a pretty infamous reputation in baseball as well, authorizing possibly the most disastrous player trade in history.

Were the protesters Japanese, or Canadian English teachers/backpackers?

  • 0

    jinjapan

as it's the world series in america & he hasn't thrown out a pitch there i guess he's not very welcome in his own country. japanese in the stadium wouldn't boo him. they're very polite to guests.

At this point instead of boos, covering your face in embarassment would be more appropriate. What a train wreck.

I'd like to see Cheney on the mound...

Remember when Bush took Koizumi to Graceland so that Koizumi could bask in the aura of his idol Elvis? That was excellent!

Disgraceful deal by the organisers of the Japan Series. Politics should have nothing to do with sport whatsoever, especially when he is not even an active politician anymore. Although, there is a strong argument that the Japan Baseball Series is not actually sport. Clearly a deal struck by that gangster Koizumi. What is Roos playing at by getting involved with the former (and Republican) president ?

  • 0

    Altria

Why is there an umpire behind him on the mound? He's clearly out of position.

The inference here being that no British or American teachers/backpackers would demonstarte aginst this man and his wars? I am British and I am very largely living here in Japan now because of my disgust at the UK's involvement in Iraq.

Why bash the Bush? He made me laugh in so many occasions :-)

  • 0

    dano2002

You are living in Japan because of UK's involvement in a war? Do you really expect us to believe that?

All English teachers. Not just those from Canada.

I think Bush was a horrible president. But going to prison is a little extreme.

Waterboarding - let's pretend you have two choices. 1). Waterboard and get vital information regarding a bombing which a releative of yours will be killed. or 2). do nothing and let it happen. Honestly, do you choose #2 on higher moral standings even though a nut packed a bomb (WITH NAILS) and blows up a restaurant.

I am not for torture but it is a thin fence here. These are not normal people we are dealing with.

  • 0

    smithinjapan

The umpires getting ready to catch him in case he falls backward from bending so far to throw worse than a 'girlie-throw'. Man, the guy can't even pitch a ball!

Not surprising he's not allowed to pitch at the opener of a game in his home country -- he'd be booed off the kiddie mound they set up for him.

  • 0

    spudman

Dano stop watching 24. torture gets information the torturer wants to hear, nothing more. Your scenario would still result in the relative being killed.

  • 0

    Sarge

Why is this under Politics? Bush is a former president on a private visit. He's not meeting with Hatoyama or other politicians as far as I know. It should be under Sports.

"there is a strong argument that the Japan Series is not actually sport"

    Har!

"No mention of him getting booed by the crowd"

This is an intelligent, well-mannered crowd.

    GJDailleult

It's in politics because it is politics. The head of Yomiuri, Tsuneo Watanabe, has been a big cheese in the LDP for a long time.

Just another reason to cheer for the Fighters.

Good pitching form! Better than Obama`s golf swing (giggles).

Although he should be fine for a starting spot on the next US WBC team...

Not a huge fan of Bush... but people please be happy he is gone and throwing a baseball in Tokyo has little effect on the world at large!

Bush throws like a 90 year old granny. But i shouldn't give him too much credit.

  • 0

    Icantbelieveit

I kind of miss him and the Mrs. after seeing how the new administration is handling things. Nice looking form.

  • 0

    USNinJapan2

Dozens of demonstrators marched outside the stadium protesting the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq...

So that's why so few of the regulars were posting here yesterday evening...

  • 0

Bushs pitching form is pretty good. A lot better than Obamas golf swing!

no way. If it was Bill Clinton as designated hitter this forum would have been cheering all night.
