China confirms, in roundabout way, Japan invite for war memorial

Why not just say, "Yes, of course we have invited Japan. We hope this will be an opportunity for reconciliation, remembering the past, and move forward together."?

Because they are children, thats why.

They don't want to appear as making nice to the Japanese for domestic reasons but probably feel pressure not to look too petty to the rest of the world.

Maybe she thought questioning person could not understand what she said? (In Chinese language conversation anyway). She had to tell what she was supposed to tell and she could not iexplain what she said? After all she is just a spokes person.

Just it's done with good intention. Otherwise a bit scary.

Hmm, curious coincidence, I believe it was Mcarthy that said after working in Japan that it was a nation 'of 12 year olds". Perhaps it's true Japanese and Chinese are basically the same people.

I think inviting a Japanese delegation would be a perfect opportunity for both sides to develop closer ties. Let's hope Japan expresses genuine remorse and we can all move on.

Japan should not attend. China is only interested in showing off its goose-stepping military.

Sadly with abe as PM Japan is basically screwed, if he says what HE believes, it will be very bad for Japan, if abe says what SHOULD be said the whole world knows he DOESNT mean it & is basically lying from his point of view, & thus insincere.

Either way Japan cant hope to gain much if anything with the current PM simply not possible.

Actually the whole world outside Japan knows this bit, which should have been dealt with many many decades ago instead its been left to fester for decades & here we are!

China should change its hard-line foreign policy and other nations should soften their relations with Beijing.

If Japanese send a delegate who is fluent in Chinese language, he/she may be able to explain what real China is. After all, a majority of Japanese culture are rooted in China. We look same. Both have black hair, not blond hair.

JAPAN should better ignore and skip as it has nothing to gain by participation in this event.

I doubted what the recent AIIB and some G7 members did, just not reminded enough that, catching up with Beijin is the most appropriate thing to do on this planet.
