War is not a low hanging fruit to meet energy needs. Use your brains and invent new sources like fusion power, etc.

“I have to say Diaoyu islands and Ryukyu islands and Okinawa islands… the first, and the second and the third, are not the same nature. The Chinese government on this is very clear,” he said.

? D=R and Okinawa total :2 So China says Okinawa belongs to US/Japan whereas Diaoyu/Ryukyu is theirs?

However, Okinawa should be independet, get freedom from Japan's contrl.

@justicetz: lol, yeah. Then build a navy to guarantee sovereignty. I love how people could be delusional... Many probably haven't seen the war for too long.

And why using Diaoyu instead of Senkaku in the article posted on a website related to anything Japanese? For the users to learn geography? They could use wiki for that if they would like to know the name of the islands in 150 different languages... Most of the world uses the name Senkaku if they aren't Chinese reports.

China has a clear policy of territorial expansion, and this does nothing to assuage the fears and concerns of Asian countries. China's policy of territorial expansion will be backed up with military force. The signs are clear.

There are right wing nuts in every country. Japan has its fair share of them, so does the U.S.A. and so does China. The best thing to do is to ignore them.

China is primarily a trading country. Any act of aggression on Okinawa would be economic suicide. It would turn the world against China and they would lose so much custom that it wouldn't be worth doing it.

Also, what could they possibly gain from it?

The rich natural resources of Okinawa?

There aren't any.

Therefore China isn't likely to invade Okinawa any time soon.

So, why does the media take the nationalist ramblings of a right wing idiot and shove them in our eyes and ears?

My guess is that there are right wing factions in the US who would like to make it seem that there is a dangerous environment and that this somehow excuses the huge military bases in Okinawa and the massive "sympathy money" that Japan has to lob out every year.

The Senkaku Is. potentially have huge oil and gas reserves if you haven't been reading the press releases.

You do realize that the two do not go hand in hand. The "sympathy" money comes from the Japanese national budget and those right wing factions that you like to think want the bases here is way off the mark as well.

Look closer, at Tokyo, when you talk about who really wants the bases here.

What doesn't China claim to own? They claim to own islands in the Philippines, too. They might as well just come out & say they own the world.

Mark Elrod, agreed. Next, some chinese "scholar" will write some ridiculous paper proving that china has territorial claims to western USA because chinese worked on the railroads.

Historically, modern china belonged to the mongols, so give it back.

Senkakus belong to Okinawa.

china has no evidence or proof backing its claims over islands near Japan or South china Sea. just mere or occasional mentions from its history but never having proof of any ownership. it does not mean a name of an island is mentioned in chinese poem equals ownership. chinese history is always fraudulent, wacky and unreliable as proof. but MAPS drawn by early foreign powers indicate that these islands in question are not china's or even appear in Chinese political maps during the height of western colonialism. France, Germany, Dutch, English, Korean, American, maps in existence during the 1600s till present do not indicate ANY chinese ownership of the islands in questions. on the other hand, these islands in question did APPEAR on maps of these smaller, weaker countries as theirs. chinese bullying is resorted by china to intimidate their leaders into subjection. china now is bribing, lending monies, buying properties overseas in desperation to seek power and food. one-on-one settlement is its policy towards these islands and not the international court of justice since china has no evidence of ownership to back its claims. it can however negotiate one-one from these smaller, weaker nations in china's favor since china can easily BRIBE and pirate these smaller-weaker countries' leaders. this has been china's style of negotiation since time immemorial. china has been and will always be a country of pirates, thieves, killers, fakers, bullies, greedies and SHOULD NEVER BE TRUSTED.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

In a fit of contrition China will now choose to give itself to history, Mongolia or Tibet

for goodness sake, next China will claim the Moon as Chinese territory. Well good luck to them for that. It is simply ridiculous for them to try to seize territory with just words. sigh.

Meanwhile there are a bunch of Chinese under poverty line.

What is China not to claim? They wanted to rule the world.. They should try and the world will go against them, all of them will go back to nothing..Why dont they just concentrate in doing replica?that's what they are good at,they couldn't come up with their own,no originality..They also claim the scarborough shoal which is very rich in oil and gas and it is very clear that is is own by the Philippines, they wanted to take it over bec of its natural resources and oh!!! They have started take oil from it already.. I just wish the world will go against them, boycott everything every product that they export and manufacture from make ups to garments!!!

True, But China has them among high ranking officers in their military.
