Typical Japan supporter wishful thinking, just like back in the days in the Manchukuo incident and Marco Polo incidents. It's always China that's off balance, and Japan had to defend herself thru occupation. But history has shown that Japan has never ever succeeded in taking foreign territory, whether it be from Korea, Taiwan, China, SE Asia, US or Russian far east. Sure the Chinese communist party might go bust, so could any other country's government for that matter, and all your paranoia and fear mongering is moot.

xyz123, I do nothing think "occupation" really fits in this situation. As pointed out there are were not any residents on these islands. There is a reason for my strong position in the northern territories. It has to do with people not resources, national pride, etc. If this is all about the gas fields perhaps some sort of compromise can be done. Such as a organization developed just for the harvesting of the gas run by both China and Japan. If a military presence is needed perhaps a neutral 3rd party can be found to do this function. There is no need for a war and think about what cooperation and building trust would benefit both sides! Most Japanese including me hate war the people who die are someones spouse, parent or child and it is not needed for both sides to win. What is needed is for both sides to meet with a trusted non interested 3rd party to keep the talks on the correct path.

When all else fails, use the "Brutal Imperial Japan" card.

Hey. Good ol maglev101. Were you able to find the Senkaku islands yet or do you need help? Let me know.
If people want to look at the "recent" territorial ambitions in regards to unoccupied islands, I believe it's best to look at what China has done in the South China Sea especially the Spratley reefs. But then again, it won't be long before some of the pro-China supporters pull the "Brutal Imperial Japan" card once again.

I'm sure your fingers are poised in excited anticipation. don't drool on your keyboard, it'll break and then where would you be?

Yuriotani, China does not want a war with Japan, nor the United States. Why? It's bad for business. As things are progressing, China will surpass Japan this year (or next) and seize the title as the 2nd largest economy on earth, and most dominant economy in Asia. Why would China want to risk all of that with a frivolous armed conflict over a bunch of rock formations?
Seiharinokaze at 04:01 PM JST - 24th July
China's same old ploy to deflect domestic disquiet particularly at this time by huffing and puffing about their indisputable sovereignty over something or anything available. Better not react to their internal affairs.
bushlover at 07:20 AM JST - 25th July
I read that China signed these islands over to Japan in 1870s or thereabouts. So China is the fool for doing this. Just because their arrogant Commie guys are in power doesn't mean they get the goods by default.

You pro-Japanizers need to get over it. Getting all riled up over a bunch of uninhabited rock formations.
Hysterical.
nigelboy at 11:54 PM JST - 25th July
Which is kind of funny when you consider that China builds docks and station military personnel in these type of "uninhabited rock formations" throughout South China Sea.
Now we got lame examples and hypocricy which is typical of pro China supporters.

'Now we got lame examples and hypocricy which is typical of pro China supporters.'
Guess that's better than sour grapes and other forms of bitterness which is typical of pro-Japanizers.
Don't worry all, China won't risk their rise to the top of Asia's pecking order over a stupid armed conflict for some rock formations.
nigelboy at 03:17 AM JST - 26th July
uhmm. They have. (see my South china Sea ex above). I'll add ignorance to the list of typical pro Chicom supporters
But you go on and climax with your usual "we're on the verge of surpassing Japan in GDP". I'll start taking China seriously as "top of Asia" when there people stop illigally immigrating my country which is "not in my lifetime". Once and always will be a slave labor to G8.

Of course definitely not in our lifetime. But, our children and their children's liftetime is a different story. It'll be the reverse...G8 will be the slave laborers and it's citizens will be like the Mexicans in North America.
