    Learn to play like communist China. Show the same card to them. SELF DEFENCE ONLY Japan and other Asian countires jointly work to defent Chinese aggresion. Even think of nuclear bombs. ONLY SELF DEFENCE. Other wise they will start taking over all International sea and Islands in Asia. United you are strong. If you are weak they will kill and eat you. Never trust them until they open and show their clear intensions and act accordingly.

    “It is important for us to firmly seek progress in transparency as its naval strength is expanding without transparency.”

    The Japanese government has no right to speak of who should be transparent, given recent events. Of course they need to monitor what's happening and should be concerned, same as China is wary of Noda. This is a chance for the two governments to make progress, but I suspect nationalism on both sides will once again trump any chance for improving relations -- the people seem to like that kind of thing.

    realmind: "If you are weak they will kill and eat you."

    The thing is they have no real power, so why pretend? What's more China and the world knows full well that this government will likely be out the door in 12 months or less, so what would they accomplish through bombast and rhetoric they can't back up before bowing out? No... they should seek for positive dialogue, not rattling an empty sabre sheath.

    Growing power? China is underpowered. We have a right to protect our sea and supply routes against aggression from Japan or America, Vietnam or Philippines.

    China still has millions of people living in 3rd world conditions, so yes it is still a growing power.

    While it has a right, as any other country does as well, to protect it's own trade routes it doesn't have the right to tread into other countries space without prior legal notification. It also has a responsibility to contain and stop it's own mariner's from illegal poaching in other countries territorial waters.

    thinking of 19th century and living in the 21st. Propaganda word to own people underpowered like SELF DEFENCE ONLY

    When China was weak and had nothing except millions of poor and very weak army that time no country went to claim the sea in south Asia. If they had wished they could have done it with no threat from China. Instead those countires gave foreign money, medecine, and food for the people of China for thier SELF DEFENCE from sickness and hunger. Now that China is claiming all the sea around them as thier private property and every day the border line extends 1000s of meters. What is it??? Because just they became rich and started showing the real face..

    Japan, America, Vietnam, Philippines, Malayasia, Indonasia, India, Korea also want to protect thier trade routes from Chinese aggression...

    China shall never being as foolish like Japan signing the 'Washington naval treaty 1922' and has no obligations to limits her 'natural growth' of ships'! By the way, Japan has learned a lesson after the trwler incident last year,Japan needs China's 'rare earh' !

    In September last year, Beijing broke off all high-level contact with Tokyo after Japan detained a Chinese fishing boat captain whose vessel had collided with Japanese coastguard patrol ships in the same waters. Japan eventually released the captain under strong pressure from China, a move that helped eased the tension.

    Very crafty piece of work. China blaming Japan for an incident it created. Japan caving in to the big bad bully. Sad.

    Keep a wary eye on this nation. Warnings went out half a century ago. Territorial disputes with Asian nations continue. It won't be long before China will start claiming all of the seas and the islands in Asia.

    Reliance on the military pact with US is a 'myth'! North Korea submarine sunken the South Korean frigate'Cheonan' last year has shown nothing has to pay back! So if japan keen with america to fight China is a death wish! The Chinese government has made it clear no recognizing Japanese soverignity in the Senakaku isles last year and America has done nothing to help Kan san!

    Cooperation is a 2 way street, China needs to show that it is a partner 2 all its east and south eastern nieghbours by reaching a fair agreement on sea boundaries. It currently has territory disputes with South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Phillipines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, India, Bhutan, pakistan and Tajikistan.

    Claiming all the sea to within 12 miles of the coast with many countries and all the continental shelf is not reasonable.

    Bargain like a thief!!!. The world is becoming more mature in terms of trade and financial exchange. But china act like a boy who just changed his father from a poor man to rich man. Now he wants all the toys which he never had in his whole life and even wants to take from his new father`s friends family too. US, Japan, Europe enjoyed prosperity by not being communist, and they are talking about sharing and even united the nations ( EU). They help other nations and take responsibility for the world for certain level. They use made in China even they had big trade deficit with China. All those actions are not afraid of China, because they had balls and shame which they have inherited from own parents. Still they do not want to do any ijeme to China.

    If you are proud as your school lessons teaches you then do not copy or steal others try to make anything with your own brain and sweat..... and earn trust from other asian countries.

    Am not worried about the Chinese Navy, they should have a "sink me" sign on them. Old Soviet junk or ships based on it are just not a threat.

    Some years ago China was attack to Vietnam. Chinas woman unit 'steel roses' was criminal wars in Vietnam. Japanese politics don't know about Chinese criminal wars in Vietnam because their reaction is very unworried.

    That is your right, but you would worried about economic consequences of China activity. China use own navy for defense own economic interests.

    BessonovYan, if the Americans would not defend Japan, we would have to do it ourselves. A deterrent force of some sort. Japan would have to launch on warning. While we could chase down their boomers it would take time. 15 to 20 minutes and maybe a a decision time of 5 to 10 minutes, am not sure. While the Chinese navy is a joke their missiles are not a joke unlike North Korea. Today Japan would reduce the Chinese navy in short order. It would be a hunt of sorts, the Maritime SDF is a specialist in hunting subs. Withing a few hours our friends the Americans will be with us. I have no doubt in my mind about this fact.

    The foreign minister of Japan might keep it in mind that Shanghai Bang and Chinese Navy don't necessarily have a conflict of interest with the U.S. military-industrial complex. As tension rises, they may be smirking. Double-digit increase in China's military expenditure therefore is a double-edged concern. While showing a firm resolution to defend our country is important, the foreign minister should be wary of cheap nationalism growing on both sides edging us to a point where we think we can't turn back. That kind of folly is what Japan should have learned from history.

    Why China need attack of Japan? I don't sure that China need it. As I know Chinas navy and Japan navy are not test in real military conflict. But I know that Japan and SK have old bad weapons from USA, also Japan and SK are limited by ammunition from USA. USA need credits from China because USA never defend of Japan and SK too from China. But China have airplanes and R&D from Ukraine and many some clones of our weapons. I sure that China isn't need military conflict in Asian region, because China need hi-tech from Japan and SK. But China would get hi-tech from USA. Because now begin difficult time for Japan and SK. Also economic of China more strong than economic os Japan because Japan can't have success in long time war.

    BessonovYan, China's Navy is or base on Soviet junk. All around the world the Soviet junk is being destroyed. Latest case in point Libya. The Americans laid waste to their air defense and NATO did the rest. Why would you expect China to do better with the same defense systems? Having the information is one thing using it is yet another, like the imitation Chinese bullet trains. They lack the basic safety systems. Copies are just copies and the Chinese models are lacking.

    @YuriOtaniSep. 05, 2011 - 08:48AM JST

    Libya never have air defense c-300 or some new weapons. But NATO lose many money and time for Libya. Can you compare economic of Libya and China? What creditor more important for USA China or Japan?

  • 0

    YuriOtani

    BessonovYan, same junk weapons system. The Chinese air defenses will be gone within 24 hours. Only their long range radar will be spared. There is a reason for this but no China would do no better. China has the advantage of a large ground force but is it really an advantage? Mass wave attacks would be the modern bansai attacks. China has a long way to come, its fleet will be on the bottom within days, it is a sick joke like q carrier without planes.

    You told about China weapons as may be you know all Chinese technology. I can't told that Chinese weapons that are the best but for each complex task can be find complex solve. Don't worry, if China will be need attack of Japan then Japan not have chance with current situation. For example, the last some years China improve pilotless vehicle. What can you told about that Chinese technology? For example, 10 000 units pilotless vehicle would fly to Okinawa, are you have some air defence for that? I sure that you not have some air defense for that. I not told about USA because that is Chinese economic province. USA project really are closed. Forget about USA. Really you have only your military courage for defense Okinawa. But I hope that China not need military conflict as told 孔子

    BessonovYan, dream on, keep dreaming as even the Americans do not have such numbers and talk about a "turkey shoot" Like you think the Americans will not respond? Laughs dream on, China will attack Japan at their own peril. One the drones do not have the range, second it would be fun to take out so many drones. Then their is the PRC navies "sitting duck" or aircraft carrier. Drones, oh please!

    @YuriOtaniSep. 06, 2011 - 05:01AM JST

    All my dreams only about peace. May be i can know that some weeks ago USA not sell F-16 to Taiwan. Only NOT SELL! Are you sure that USA want die for Japan? I sure that USA can't have bad relationship with the biggest creditor. I sure that China will not attack of Japan because not need it. But i sure that China can develop and produce 10 000 drons, missiles and many others. I sure that air defence USA Patrion can't stop about 100 drons or missiles. That can be easy and lo-cost Chinese solve for death of USA navy. Why you wait Chinese attack of Japan?
