romulus3: exactly, this is how he was treated in Japan.

hehehehehe, a ridiculous mask for the real pain.

"Ridiculous mask" is exactly how world diplomats do it properly. It's called class, respect, and dignity. This shows how proper Japanese politicians and its people respect other foreign dignitaries. On the contrary, if Jp politican visited China, they would take the Jp politicians on tours of war crime related sites, constantly hammer them on past wrongs 24/7, stir up the crowd to anti Jp racial hostility, and so on and so forth. Basically, lack of class and respect. Good for these Jp politicians for showing the world how to do it right.

Time for Hu to go home. He's been in Japan so long that only 9th grade level comments are being posted now.

  • medievaltimes at 12:45 AM JST - 11th May

You guys(the posters)really dont understand basic politics.

  • rjd_jr at 12:51 AM JST - 11th May

This isn't quantum physics we're talking here. This is simply a Chinese politician visiting Japan, nothing more, nothing less. You treat foreign dignitaries with respect, and the Jp officials went above and beyond their duties in showing Mr. Hu respect and some nice cultural sites. You don't need a phD to know that. This is real easy, basic stuff.

The communist Chinese had come a long way since the Cultural Revolution. It was unthinkable for a communist leader to speak in confucian values and to set foot in religious grounds--let alone bow down to a statue! I hope that Hu has learned from his visit to Japan that the revolution which the destruction of many aspects of Chinese culture has taken place was a serious error.

I have to agree with OssanULTRA and medievaltimes:

There was nothing for Hu to learn here. In fact, this was just a preliminary talks on how to further strengthen economies, and how to make more money. all this other stuff is just fluff, to distract you from what's really happening, which is probably investments and quotas. And judging from the posts I have read from most of the posters, I would say it worked, and you guys took the bait hook line and sinker.

But I am curious to what they talked about in their private meetings. I wonder how they plan to increase economic holdings, in the years to come. would there be a joint investment opportunity they are planning. Perhaps shifts in WTO quotas. Time will tell.

    Gotta agree with medievaltimes.

"The trip has succeeded in a satisfactory manner"

I guess the pro-Tibet protesters didn't hit him with any eggs.

  • realist at 02:52 PM JST - 11th May

Another diplomatic coup for the evil Communist Party of China. At least the Tibet protestors were able to make their voices heard in Japan. As usual, the Chinese rent-a-crowd were also around, waving their communist banners. One day soon, the great Chinese people will be free of communism, and also the Tibetan people will be free. The days of Hu and his cronies are numbered.

  • Terrikus at 12:33 AM JST - 12th May

Yes, how dare they improve relations?

  • reddragonguy at 04:24 PM JST - 12th May

When chairman Hu speaking to Japanese politicians, they have to hold their breadth and listen until finished! Japan needs china's market and Japan's security count on China instead of US forces in japan!

  • franz75 at 07:37 PM JST - 12th May

realist not so realist. "communist" are in place little more than you think.
