There is a big gap between the paranoiac vervbal attack of Chinese government and the attitude of the general public of China. There is no day I don't hear Chinese language when I visit tourist spots in Tokyo. They appear they are not concerned about what their government says agaist Japan. I think it is nice that Chinese tourists can go around our country without any apprehension of hostility to them by Japanese.

I think chinese state media needs more... let's say liberty.

7 ( +12 / -4 )

Schopenhauer

I think it is nice that Chinese tourists can go around our country without any apprehension of hostility to them by Japanese.

I'm not sure about that. There's been many anti-China rhetoric popping up lately, and bookstores these days are stacked with either nationalistic or anti-China or Korea themed books.

The nationalists are playing with fire. Japan is in desperate need of a left-wing "hose". Some people may get seriously hurt after all this senseless nationalism.

-3 ( +9 / -12 )

Oh Chinese government of madness, when will you ever learn? The more you bark and the louder you bark like a fool, the less the world will pay attention, no matter what tone of bark it is.

@Eiji Takano

"bookstores these days are stacked with either nationalistic or anti-China or Korea themed books"

The difference is that Japanese people and businesses in China have been physically attacked while Chinese people in Japan don't have to worry about getting attacked just because they are Chinese.

Hide Suzuki

The difference is that Japanese people and businesses in China have been physically attacked while Chinese people in Japan don't have to worry about getting attacked just because they are Chinese.

So you're rationalizing and excusing the nationalist sentiments in Japan?

-16 ( +6 / -22 )

@Eiji Takano

"So you're rationalizing and excusing the nationalist sentiments in Japan?"

When did I say that ? Having hostility and acting on the feeling are two different things if you didn't know. There are some people I want to beat up but I wouldn't do it. Some Chinese people actually have done it.

Are you saying they are the same ?

Eiji Takano Feb. 12, 2014 - 07:37AM JST So you're rationalizing and excusing the nationalist sentiments in Japan?

It becomes quite clear that China does not value long term friendship. It has switched or abandoned its friends when it is convenient or useful to do so. After the Senkaku/Diaoyu fishing boat incident, Chinese goverment intentionally damaged many Japanese businesses (approx. over $126 million in damages) that was operating inside China has also awakened the international community of the risk in future investments in China. What this tells you is that the goverment of China will not protect any foreign businesses does not agree with their ideas.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Hide Suzuki is right and is what surveys of Japanese and Chinese public opinion indicate.

On a separate thought, a political party that still keeps Mao Zedong's picture in Tiananmen shouldn't be crowing about another country's Gangster logic.

16 ( +18 / -2 )

So why aren't there Japanese hate marches calling for "deaths against cock roaches", against Chinese people, as there are against Koreans everyday? Could it be Japanese scared of the consequences from the Chinese?

Chinese state media slam Abe's 'gangster logic'

The real gangsters are the Chinese. A Spanish court just charged the Chinese with committing genocide in Tibet.

Spanish High Court Judge Ismael Moreno issued arrest orders on Monday for former Chinese President Jiang Zemin, ex-Premier Li Peng and three others. Moreno noted that he was obliged by a separate judicial ruling to order the arrests, which he had declined to issue in April last year.

China's response: throw a temper tantrum.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

@Chucky Can you provide a source of your claim of "everyday" anti-Korean marches? I've heard of the one in Tokyo which had Japanese counter-protesters, but didn't know they were of a daily nature, as you claim.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

I think China, N and S Korea (yes they are all part of the same group) should all go bowling together. They're a bunch of whining sucks that were too weak to do anything about it 70 odd years ago, and too weak to do anything about it now. Just give it a rest... and go bowling!

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Eiji TakanoFeb. 12, 2014 - 07:25AM JST I'm not sure about that. There's been many anti-China rhetoric popping up lately, and bookstores these days are ?>stacked with either nationalistic or anti-China or Korea themed books.

All that really started after China went on the anti-Japan demonstrations.

The nationalists are playing with fire. Japan is in desperate need of a left-wing "hose". Some people may get seriously >hurt after all this senseless nationalism.

It really shows how little you know of Japan. If anything Japan has suffered from being far too leftwing for some 68 years. The current shift to the "right" is more like a shift to the center for most democratic countries. It's also absurd for China and it's supporters to constantly whine about Japanese "right-wing" when all of China from it's totalitarian dictatorship down to the students getting brainwashed with "Patriotic Education" and drunk with nationalism in their schools are ALL right wing in every sense of the word. China is the only country that openly advocates war. Nationalism in all Asian countries today are a response to China's belligerence.

13 ( +17 / -4 )

“The Japanese right-wing politicians’ bungling acts are like performances by clowns occasionally happening on the great stage of history,” the People’s Daily wrote.

Lot of truth in these words. Just because the Chinese are saying it doesn't mean you can ignore them.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

All Abe said, afaik, was paraphrasing, that despite being trade partners Germany and the UK ended up at war in 1914, so just because Japan and China are trade partners it does not mean that there is no cause for concern. That sounds like a typically low-key, fairly obvious, and cautious Japanese political statement. I can see nothing 'gangster' about it. It seems to me that anyone who cries "gangster" about Abe's statement (with or without the translator's embellishment) must have other motives for reaching that conclusion.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Abe was heard yesterday off mic saying...

"Meh...China....day think dey can keep shootin deh mouth off wit no consequences...one day I'm gonna puda cap in they ass"

Anyone who has lived in or spent time in, or even dealt with post war Japan directly will tell you this.

So the Chinese hate machine just keeps churning out more garbage on a daily basis, this is all becoming like a hum of a old worn machine.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

The Chinese are like a bunch of petulant little kids.

What other nation complains about "Their feelings getting hurt" when people say bad things about them?

And these are the guys who are going to rule the world. Seriously?

Think they need some concrete tablets before they get to that...

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Henry Kissinger seems to have the same "gangster logic" as Abe. http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/kissinger-japan-china-war/2014/02/02/id/550377

"Asia is more in a position of 19th-century Europe, where military conflict is not ruled out," Kissinger, 90, said on a panel at the meeting in Munich, Germany, yesterday. "Between Japan and China, the issue for the rest of us is that neither side be tempted to rely on force to settle the issue."

The country sending armed boats to Senkakus is China.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

The difference is that Japanese people and businesses in China have been physically attacked while Chinese people in Japan don't have to worry about getting attacked just because they are Chinese.

Even that's pretty limited. I go to China regularly with Japanese people for business, and the Chinese people we meet and/or do business with are no friendly and polite. When I'm alone and mention I live in Japan, I occasionally get a comment about not liking Japan, the converse of which I rarely hear in Japan, but I think that's more likely that the Japanese are just polite enough to keep such comments to themselves.

The reality is that the current conflict is largely between the governments, and some of the extremist people in each country. The average citizen doesn't have much of a problem with the other country.

Anyone who has lived in or spent time in, or even dealt with post war Japan directly will tell you this.

I'd rather believe an article with neutral stance than the people alive at that time still looking back fondly at the Imperial Japan as the 'Glorious Nippon'.

Time to call in Cesar Millan...Tsst!!

China in lambasting any PM or Minister visiting the Tokyo shrine simply want to annex Japan. Think about the various legal documents including kosekitohon which were left out in tact right after the war. One reason why so many fake Nikkeis from there. There's a lot of them here placed well who have acquired Jcitizenship. Indeed, an ungrateful lot. Them becoming world's No. 2 simply because job orders were shifted there during the so called Lehman Shock. Using the gangster word? Look who's talking!

And the issue of comfort women, I just have to agree. There could be truth to rape but when I read somewhere somebody from another country was forced to prostitute herself as comfort women were supposed to be, how come that woman was able to travel several countries as a " comfort woman"? I simply doubt. I believe that it is really common in any country at war. And those women basically did that for survival. Otherwise, some won't even get to join the Imperial Army in its conquest in several countries. And if sexual slavery was really againts their will, they could have just fought tooth and nail and die instatly with dignity. But why some come out in the open after 60 or so yrs? Just to huggle in the limelight and travel to the world free! And nobody can even act as witness to all their stories.

The stinging editorial was re-published in English by the official news agency Xinhua, a clear sign that the authorities wanted it disseminated to an international audience.

Oh, it will get disseminated alright. The problem the communists have is that after a hundred years of publishing falsehoods and propaganda nobody takes anything the CCP mouthpiece says seriously anymore.

“If Japan refuses to walk out of the voodoo circle it has drawn for itself and stubbornly sticks to defying international justice by conjuring historical illusions, we will keep it company to the end. However, if it has to be this way, it will be an end that causes tremendous miseries for the entire Japanese nation”

Sounds like somebody just begging for another ass-whooping. Some people never learn.

Say what you like, but John Kerry is bypassing Japan this time! The more Abe carries out his antics, the more ammunition he gives to China to shoot him. Isn't this ironic? In less than a year Abe has managed to make Japan a laughing stock in the international community despite pledging billions of dollars in aid and spending so much time around the world. He even went to Russia after the big western powers turned their back to Sochi. The Chinese are participating in the Cobra Military exercises with US and others, including Japan, in Thailand. If he had talked less, China would not have been invited!

It is the interesting development for justice. They may be deserved to be charged if there are solid evidence for Genocide.

Abe may be hated by his loose cannon explosion. However he has no blood in his hands like former US President Bush, former UK PM Blair and former PRC leaders. Obama by himself has some blood in his hands for using drone for killing some innocence lives. They were and They are the gangsters too.

The definition of gangster is Criminals team up with fellow criminals for committing crimes.

Spanish high court should issue arrest warrant for those war criminals and fellow deceptive gangsters of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld for prevailing the equal justice too.

"Chinese gangster state media slam Abe's logic'"

There! I corrected the title for you.

I knew Abe was an OJII but I didn't know he was an OG.

NHK's Naoki Hyakuta recently said that the Tyoko Tribunal was a sham to hide the US "war crimes" of the fire bombing and nuclear bombing of Japan. Feeling friendly, US?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

China is the new Germany!! They are going to kill us in Asia! Help us, world! Please stop the big bad red wolf!!

-4 ( +1 / -3 )

The recent anti-US sentiments from the right is getting interesting... But the rightists are increasing trying to explain this with the fantasy that the Chinese are brainwashing the Americans (lol) into becoming more anti-Japanese (like criticizing the right-wing historical revisionism).

My guess is that the US is secretly fanning the flames of Japanese nationalism so that Japan will start a war with China. But it may backfire as it gradually turns into anti-Americanism from all the bottled up resentment towards America.

-6 ( +2 / -7 )

If you look at the # of Chinese tourists visiting Japan in 2013 and compare that say with any years between 2009-2012, the gap is extremely significant.

And who doesn't like to visit Japan for fun? Its clean, well preserved and cute place mixed with tradition and modernity. But it doesn't mean they have to like you. Ask those same Chinese about how they feel about Abe and the right wingers and you will get a different response.

Just because some of the Japanese are hated by China and Chinese, it doesn't mean Ginza, Nara, Kamakura and Hokkaido should suffer as well. Much like many Americans are antagonistic about Communism but you don't see us stop visiting China for both business and tourism.

The way I see it, the Chinese state media is no different than NHK these days. What's the point of impartiality with Abe or PM of Japan can influence and appoint key posts of media such as NHK and others.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Shinzo Abe is worse than the Japanese Yakuza. He is sacrificing his country's peace and prosperity on trying to revive a militaristic imperial Japan that died after American atomic bombs landed on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in a fitting tribute to Japan's unprovoked air strikes on the American naval base at Pearl Harbour. Perhaps he prefers something more tasteful other than American for Japan. Perhaps a North Korean atomic bomb or Chinese and in Tokyo?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

China is run by raving loonies... no other explanation for the rhetoric coming out of there. Are they trying to compete with North Korea for the Looniest Leaders award?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Its not just Chinese editorials misinterpreting Abe's WW1 remark and turning that molehill into a mountain, is it? I hate Abe, but I know what he meant and I find it annoying so many want to take issue with it.

It really shows how little you know of Japan. If anything Japan has suffered from being far too leftwing for some 68 years.

Japan has been run by the LDP almost non-stop since 1955. The LDP is conservative, reactionary and nationalist. I cannot think of any left ideas that has made Japan suffer. But it does seem that suffering is relative. Some seem to suffer because they know there will not be a full scale war over a foreign fishing vessel passing into territorial waters. Not me.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

While I dont agree that Chinas media has true freedom, I have to agree with them in this case

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

wouldn't the world be a nicer place if the Chinese people were able to vote these leaders out from China and China was able to move on based on openness of information and history, and not continually reminded they needed to hate someone!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

china talks the talk, but the poisonous products that sends to other countries no eh,

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I cannot think of any left ideas that has made Japan suffer

Those left are any groups who take sides with China and South Korea. If you want to know in detail ask Japanese friends.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I think the Chinese gov is getting frustrated. They don't seem to understand that all badmouthing and provocations along borders simply strengthens Abe. Abe is better skilled in political trashing. I think the Chinese gov will get more and more frustrated until they reach the point of breaking (loose the mask), and either shut him up by physical means or choose to withdraw and bide their time.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

One point to keep in mind is that we are all news junkies. 99% of people are not. That includes Chinese and Koreans. I heard Chinese all up and down Shinjuku Street between Alta Build. and Isetan Dept. Store during the Chinese new year. Most people do not concern themselves with the news.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The current regime in China was created by a nutter called Mao Zedong who committed countless crimes against humanity, and is therefore illegitimate. Whatever the Chinese say is nothing more than the rankings of a disturbed child. I hope the people of China rise up and get rid of their corrupt illegitimate regime ASAP.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@deja vu, Mao said to be rich is glory. That's why majority of chinese are into business and even women wants to be married into money. it's really money, money and yet more money. No social conscience whatsoever. Look at their smog year in year out.
