It appears that the DPJ is intent on keeping the 62 year old status quo of Japan avoiding any real responsibility for her own defense and security of the region. Presonally I think they are swimming against the current of time in this regard.

What a crock! This article fails to address the big question, which country's soldiers will spill their blood protecting this civilian contribution. Get real DPJ!! If you don't have any constructive ideas regarding resolution of the Afghan problem, stay at home and just cough up the cash (as Japan has always done).

I suppose the Taliban/AQ would consider ransoms paid for kidnapped aid workers a 'contribution' of sorts...
