TOKYO —
The Financial Services Agency, Japan’s financial watchdog, said Friday Katsunori Mikuniya, the head of its supervisory bureau, will succeed FSA Commissioner Takafumi Sato on July 14. Mikuniya, 58, is currently in charge of the bureau supervising private-sector financial institutions.
Graduating from the University of Tokyo, he joined the Ministry of Finance in 1974, and later moved to the FSA. Before taking his current post last July, he was the head of the planning and coordination bureau in charge of policy-making concerning the financial system.
