Isn't this what slush funds are for?

Whenever I stay in a Japanese hotel they want the cash up-front. I expect this guy told the hotel the ministry would pay, otherwise they would have been on his case after a day or two.

Wrong.. We taxpayers are theones who pay. Isn't the bubble era over?

and all the while we work and pay taxes, work and pay taxes and work and pay taxes until there is very little left for fun things. we are looking for things to do on our "staycation" this year, meanwhile this bozo is living it up for (am i wrong?) like almost two years!!!!!!!!! oh, that`s right - he had family problems that sent him to a 50,000 yen a night hotel. sorry.

Surely Japan is sophisticated enough to post rules and bylaws on the back of the door, along with the map to the closest exit? Call the cops and report him for theft. Press charges, and be done with it. Then file a suit against him to recover the damages. This is not news!

What reason is the deadbeat giving for refusing to pay?

And why on earth did the hotel not throw him out when it became apparent he hadn't paid and wasn't going to pay the first month's accommodation charge?

Parasite living off the community - our tax money. Does he still have a job as a public servant? Ever wonder why we are so loathe to pay taxes?

He can't afford, according to Tv news and now asking for special discount i.e. rate of an ordinary room.

    From Mainichi:

    職員はホテル側に「金額が大きいのですぐには払えないが、代金は支払う」と説明しているという。ホテルの支配人は「社長の知人なので支払いを待った。代金を払っていただければ問題はない」と話している。

The official allegedly has told the hotel, "I cannot pay right away becuase of the large amount, but I will pay the bill." The hotel manager commented, "We waited for the payment since he was an acquaintance of the president [of the hotel]. There is no problem if he just pays the bill."

If he can't afford it why the @&$#"+! did he stay in a posh hotel in the first place. Sheer lunacy.

Unless there's any suggestion of the Foreign Ministry paying his debts for him, his job isn't really important. Maybe it just points to the lack of fiscal sense these mandarins have, and explains in part how and why our tax yen have haemorraged away.

Take it out of his ribs.

Fine, let his friend the shacho stump up the cash.

  • delitachan at 12:02 PM JST - 1st August

Why doesn't the official understand that he is no more special or above anyone to be excused from the tab just because he has problems? He's going to cause that hotel a LOT of problems if he doesn't pay.

  • PepinGalarga at 01:57 PM JST - 1st August

there's no way the gov. will pay for his hotel bill. its a personal matter.

Scrote, the hotels you stay also give you the keys in a vending machine and charge by the hour hahaha.
