niku what a stupid 'reason' - Au is like a mini-USA when it comes to patriotism -especially sport. If he didn't go , it would be a total snub to the athletes and in my opinion, Olympics should not be about politics but sport. Besides the fact that K-Rudd has ties with China from his diplomatic days... I can't see a good reason why he shouldn't attend actually.

Good for Fukuda and a moral defeat for all those politics-over-sport activists. I'm hearing good things about Fukuda from my Japanese family and friends.

Prime Minister Fu is nothing more than a stooge who would sell out Japan to get China`s vote at the next security council vote. This move is a show to the Chinese that he supports them.

This man and his party would do anything it takes to get that vote. Even if it means kissing the hind of Mao`s corpse. Yes, oh Maoie Babies dead be-hind is still lying around.....

Good move by Fukuda. I'm rather sick of the politicizing of the Olympics. Go there, enjoy the games. They'll be over soon enough.

Heck why not have Fukuda stay there and become a citizen of the CCP? Now that is a thought, he would be at home there. Maybe he could take trips to NK and hang out with the hijackers? Man he would be in heaven then.....China, NK and Japanese traitors now that would be a heck of a trip for him.

007 - Fukuda is not "following instructions from Washington" - he's going to attend the Olympics opening ceremony in China because he's the head of state of a neighboring counry that has deep cultural and business ties with China.

Oh, and China doesn't own the U.S. If they did, there would be Chinese restaurants in every shopping center... OK, so there's a Chinese restaurant in every shopping center! But that doesn't mean China owns us! Ha ha ha!
