Japan will not get anything more than what was stated in the 1956 Soviet-Japanese Joint Declaration. And with Russia getting all kinds of mineral resources out of the islands and surrounding areas now, there is little chance that they will be in any hurry to hand over Shikotan and the Habomai islets soon.

They just should make a deal: 2 islands for Japan, and the 2 others for Russia. There you go!

Island rows, why do they make these island rows big deals.....Yawn. Russia and japan business now booming,they should focus on the megabucks there.
