tako10, i appreciate your comments, however i just wish that the relations between Australia and Japan should not deteriorate further in view of few disturbing allegations by Green Peace.
I hope the relationships of the two courtiers will go well, too. I believe Japanese public in general have positive images of Australia, and this cannot be changed easily. I'm also against Japan’s whaling in Antarctica.
Fukuda and Rudd should ban whaling as well as any hunting and fishing of any ocean animals in Okinotorishima and Antarctica because both areas of high seas have extremely delicate ecosystems.

It is a shame that Australia will not take Japan to court over this whaling issue.
Taking it to court would be a quick way to resolve the argument. I believe Japan is doing nothing wrong at all, and this case would inform many in Australia of the facts.
Taking Japan to court because of whales?no mate ,it is a very very waste of my tax money(or all Australians tax money for that matter).Australians will be happy as long as they can see whales swimming around the continent every year.
I think PM Rudd is very clever politician,he used whaling issue to get green vote to beat John Howard in the last election.I don't think he ever had intention to take Japan to court for whaling in Antartic. Now the election is over, game is finished ,everything is back to normal. His first trip oversea as PM ,he purposedly "forgot" Japan because he know media will play into his hand so he can get another trip oversea in a short time ,all paid for by tax payers.
Australian public? Some do ,some don't,some simply don't care...etc.You know politicians ,they are clever;otherwise how can they run a free and democratic country with so many different opinions ,interests from so many people of different cultural backgrounds like multicultural Australia?
"all the more so because of the number of Aussies and Kiwis I've met over the years "...did you ever talk to Chinese Australian,Vietnamese Australian or Arab Australian,Indian Australian...?You may encounter different kind of opinions altogether.
I just wish they would review the current whaling laws, completely ban whaling in the Antarctic and allow Japan to whale nearer to their home waters. I think that would make everyone happy, Japanese and Australians. The only people unhappy would be the greenies.

tclh, Maybe Rudd is clever, or else, the Australian public is not clever, for buying into his game plan.
