    "NO Fukuda will not discuss"

Why not? What do you know that runs counter to the headline of this article?

  • nutsagain at 08:26 AM JST - 7th August

Why not? Anyone who's watched this lame duck of a PM underperform over the last year is in no doubt about it. He'll offer a few earnest platitudes with vague references to 'public safety' 'mutual trust' the usual stuff. But that'll be about it because he is after all; a lame duck...

At least they are making headlines to talk about it. Not like some of the politicians here who do nothing except line their own pockets.

As much as this is an alarming problem, I fail to see why the leaders of both countries are putting this on their agenda for discussion. I would have thought they would more pressing issues to discuss like, illegal immigrants or trade agreements. Odd!

This is an important issue for China, as they are painfully aware of the image Chinese products have around the world.

The dumplings were poisoned on the Japan side, but Japan cannot admit it.

  • PepinGalarga at 12:29 PM JST - 7th August

to go all the way to China to talk about poisoned dumplings is retarded.

so many positive things to talk about... so many ideas they could come up to make some money for both their countries.

    GG2141:

The dumplings were poisoned on the Japan side, but Japan cannot admit it.

That would mean that the dumplings made in China, were shipped to Japan, then poisoned, and then shipped back to China. It would be the first time I have ever heard of food exported into a country and then exported back for human consumption.

It would be like Nike shoes being made in America, then shipped to China (for some inexplicable reason), then shipped back to America for retail.

Reminiscent of the rash of pesticide and lead poisonings in Chinese products shipped to America?

What a terribly un sportsman like sport: politics. >

discuss poisoned dumplings with Chinese leaders during Olympic visit.

Great score! oh, about those dumplings.

  • TheNoSpinZone at 05:19 PM JST - 7th August

Bush goes there and alks about religous freedom and human rights and Fukuda talks about a handfull of poisoned dumplings, way to go Japan. Hee Hee!

  • Sarge at 06:09 PM JST - 7th August

"The dumplings were poisoned on the Japan side"

That must be why China has also experienced cases of pesticide-induced food poisoning traced to dumplings made in China.

  • KyouNoNippon at 12:25 AM JST - 8th August

    Fukuda: About those poisoned dumplings...

    Wen: Shut up Fukkun!

Hu: Yeah! And go buy us a pack of smokes!

    Fukuda: Yes, sirs. m(-_-)m

"The dumplings were poisoned on the Japan side, but Japan cannot admit it."

The evidence is now clear that the poisoning took place in China. China even asked Japan to delay disclosing it, probably to save "face" after so adamantly denying it. China owes Japan a big Xie Xie on this one.

TheCode: returning recalled merchandise to the home country and it finding its way to the shelves is not uncommon. Given both countries have different standards for residues, what is illegal in one country can be perfectly legal in another. In most cases insurance does not cover this kind of issue, due to negligence, therefore, whoever is the exporter has to recover their investment in any which way but loose...

Even if there was poison in a few bags, they could do another sampling and if it's clear then its ok for sale again!!!

anyway, i saw Fuc-kuda in the opening ceremony eating some dumplings...
